I have a Nitecore EC4.

Is it possible to change the led from XM-L2 to XPL dedomed. Will the driver still power it up at full power and will I get more Lumens?

If not can I mod the driver to use a 000 resistor ?

The XM-L2 and XP-L both use the same chip inside; only the footprint is different.

I don’t recall which one is “easier” to dedome, though.

Why not just get an XP-L HI? No dome, just a flat covering (chip appears smaller, thus has more surface brightness → better throw), yet it’s not pot luck as to what kind of tint you’d end up with after dedoming.

If you get a 4C, you’ll have a 4C. If you dedome a 1A, who knows if it’ll end up greenish or lemon-yellow or any other odd color?
