I’m thinking of buying a Nitecore EDC35, I live in the UK, the cheapest place seems to be Aliexpress, Are they genuine or likely to be fake/knockoffs?

Check the sellers’ stores. Are they new or established? Do they sell other lights? Are the prices reasonable?
Has anyone ever seen counterfeit flashlights? Some OEMs make lights similar to each other under different brands. Some sellers will try to keep your money and not ship, i.e. just a scam. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a true counterfeit flashlight.

I’m not aware of Aliexpress’s policies, but I believe the stores that have personal addresses are official ones.
