33,700 cd beam intensity, that’s very respectable for this flashlight form (straight tube).

I’m pretty skeptical of that claimed throw. That’s a huge jump from other 1” tube lights and even bests other small XP-L HI lights like the R20 Javelot by a big margin.

Sounds awesome, don’t get me wrong, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Yeah I can’t wait to see some independent tests and reviews, looks like it could be the ultimate edc flashlight if its all true.

My M20SX Javelot, which advertises, but does not achieve similar intensity numbers in independent tests is too throwy for most everyday tasks. I think most people who use an EDC flashlight regularly are better off with the standard P12 (or better yet, a TN12NW).

If it actually does what it says, on the other hand, it would be great for someone who lives in a place with lots of wide open spaces.

wow, that throw is very good for a non modded light and in that form and size!
i wonder what the price will be

Impressive numbers. Will be good to see some reviews once it’s out.

:davie:

They are accepting preorders right now. It’s $71 on their site. I saw it on aliexpress for $59 though! That’s impressive, same price as the standard P12 2015.

33,7 kcd is a significant jump from regular P12 which does about 12 kcd in real life. Usually dedomed/HI emitter gives 100% increase.

PS. I’m waiting for MH20GT. That should be a tiny beast.

I sent the vendor a message, asking whether the item is in stock.
Everywhere else that I’ve checked, it’s only available for pre-order.

I haven’t seen any reviews for this flashlight yet. I’m wondering about whether it suffers from the high parasitic drain that have plagued other Nitecore flashlights. Hopefully, a simple twist of the tailcap can serve as a lockout.

mine is my new edc. impressive throw. goes well with the P15 i have.

I’m waiting for SRT7GT

Looks sexy. I was hoping for crenulated versions of the P12

My thoughts exactly….

Have the MH20 now. Use it with my AT Wizard.

Doubling the throw would be awesome!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the throw from the XP-L HI, but we’re losing like 15–18 efficiency from the XM-L2 and XP-L HD. I mean if you’re going to go for throw, go for throw and pair it with a big reflector. If you’re going to use it for an EDC (likely close range at that) go with and XM-L or XP-L and maximize output & runtime.

Not much I would do to improve it. A warmer emitter would be nice and it takes half a second to turn on so quickly flashing is impossible. The throw is incredible! The moonlight mode is fantastic. Most assuredly the nicest edc light I’ve ever carried for a week. I’m very pleased. I’m a fan of dual switches now.

You can’t spot a 15% difference in output visually unless you have two lights side by side or you’re switching between two modes on the same light. The Thrunite TN12/2014 was criticized for its two top modes being only 20% apart in lumens, which was barely noticeable. I’ve used one and I agree with that critique - it’s hard to tell 800 lumens from 1000.

You can, however easily notice the effect of a 100% increase in intensity. This makes a real, useful difference in throw. If that isn’t helpful for your EDC use case, don’t get one. There are lots of floody lights suitable for EDC. Someone who lives in an area with a lot of open space is very likely to benefit from lights like the DX20LC2 and P12GT.
