[NLD] 2023 Zebralight SC53c N w 4000K 519a

This is a really nice little light! Packs a Punch on LiIon Too

Opple 3 Flicker index, and lumens on my meter:

G6 on LiIon has lower flicker than Eneloop on L4 and L3
but LiIon has higher Flicker than Eneloop on M3 and H4

Nice light, too bad its sold out.

Do all 53c N stock lights have Li-Ion capability to run safely on that battery chemistry?

If they were purchased before Oct 2023, yes. If purchased after that, No.

even if the light does not work on LiIon, it will not be damaged by testing LiIon, but it will only have 2 modes, if the light has the newer driver that is AA only.

the secret to go back to AA after LiIon, is to Hold down the switch button for 2 seconds, with no battery iside, before inserting an AA, after using LiIon.

Thanks. I’ll have to test it out when I get home later tonight.

I look forward to your Happy Results… fwiw, only H1 doubles in brightness, all the other modes are the same output on both battery types.

The LiIon option lowers the battery weight by 7 grams…

I use this Lumintop 14500 w USB charging:

it is the same length as a standard AA and Eneloop (50mm), no length issues, even though it is protected…

I do NOT buy Button Top Vapcel F12 nor Button Top Vapcel H10, because they are Longer than 50mm. (dont own any, but they are almost 2mm longer… not sure if the spring compresses far enough… I know for a fact they dont work in my TS10, it wont close far enough to make contact). Flat Top LiIon do not work… I either use the 14500 that Wurkkos sells for the TS10, or the USB Lumintop (both 50mm long)

Seems to have worked just fine on my Vapcell H10. From what I can tell, I got this light direct from ZL in March 2023.

Congrats!

Great to learn the button top H10 is not too long for the AA Zebra… :beers:

a note about runtime, on LiIon the light is less efficient:

Tim McMahon got 4.5 hours on M1 w a 920mAh LiIon. He got 7 hours on M1 w Eneloop…

It would require a 1500mAh LiIon to match the runtime of an Eneloop.

but imo, it is fun, and possibly useful to have the higher output option that LiIon offers… even if it drains the battery faster.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s something I would use on a regular basis, but it is nice to know that it can be done safely, as opposed to the other two types of SC53’s I have which apparently cannot use that battery chemistry.
