Noctigon 20mm copper triple XPG/XPE/XTE coming soon!

I hear rumors a black and a red wire is quite good. :p

Not that it will give you 12amps.. but you will probably be happy with the result..

I have no plans of going crazy though, I think. 0:) High amps in small light= lots of heat. I mainly want copper MCPCB to limit sag and to get the best performance.

I use copper boards in small flashlights because you can use higher powers, with housings that get much hotter, without the emitter floating off the board, because the copper causes the heat to spread more evenly over the flashlight.

Oh, as suggested, this board screams for direct drive, just skip the driver :-)

I was kind of thinking 48w in a mini maglite may be a bit interesting to hold onto.

I’m liking the idea of putting one of these in my trustfire t2 with a new pill and qlite based driver

Do you know this will fit in the T2?

I’m sure it will but I can drop a 3up xpg star I have in the bezel to confirm. the driver will need a little looksee too but I’m only at the bullshit stage not the brains stage yet.

Who has a good selection of 20mm optics for these?

comfy,

From IOS:

IS and ledsupply.com carry some (maybe all) of those. The 10507 is the “narrow” one.

Ah, well the #10507 is probably the only one suitable then. I ordered the one IOS stocks but it doesn't give a part number.

I have a TF T2, and have built several 3ups with a similar board from IS. It’s easiest if the pill screws into the head, so that the distance from the top of the pill (where the emitter PCB/emitters sit, because the Carclo 3up optics are very “short” (height-wise), and you can “push” the Carclo up against the front of the head (either with or without a lens).

I just looked at the T2, and the pill is screwed into the body, so the emitter is kind of “far” from the front of the head, so I thin you’re going to have to move/extend the pill “forward” a bit, maybe with a piece of copper pipe?

Also, the T2 has a side switch… I’m guessing it’s an “electronic” switch, so whatever driver you use will need to be able to use that? I think that I’ve seen reference to a Dr. Jones driver that others have used.

If you do do this mod with a T2, please post a build thread! I’d be interested, as I haven’t done one with side switch before :)!

EDIT: I haven’t tried the Carclo 3up in the T2, but comparing to other lights I have modded, it’s close, but maybe be a “smidge” small compared to the T2 head diameter.

t2 is a mechanical clicky, nothing special, I would copy chicago x’s design for the lumen grenade, longer machined pill to suit the t2 mounting, 3up star and qlite and a trim ring to locate the optic. it maybe necessary to adjust the driver/switch interface as I had to use a one sided ak47 nanjg last time but if your going that far anyway. ………

Is the T2 you have a side clicky? The one I have is side clicky.

EDIT: Pic of my TF T2:

EDIT2: My pic not appearing - not sure why, but may be a problem with Dropbox :(…, but here’s the one I have:

EDIT3: The pic problem seems to be with Dropbox, so I’ve put the pic on Photobucket.

yes mines identical save for more wear on my ano lol.

on a side note, you probably didn’t need to quote my whole post, its just doubled the thread size. ……

Gords,

BTW, what do you all use for a “trim ring”? I’m interested because there are some lights I’d like to try the 20mm in, but the heads are > 20mm diameter.

youd have to find a way to machine something, unless you could find a copper tube/washer with a 20mm bore you could make work.

I’ve seen some pics, like in the OP here:

It looks like a white O-ring, plus some black ring around that, but I don’t think dorpmuller explained.

Same here:

For example, in a P60 head like that, you could press the front of the Carclo to the lens if you have a pill extender, but there’d be space (like ~6mm) around the Carclo.

EDIT: Also, in the new 26650 triple from CNQ, they have a black ring thingy.

yes, they are machined parts to take up the slack.

without access to a lathe youd have to get creative, hence the tube suggestions

I think there are also 35mm optics(large blank rim) that could be trimmed to fit for a cleaner look. Khatod makes them and future electronics in Canada carries them.

Does IO sale this optics together with the triple XP copper mcpcb? I don’t see them!

They seem to have a 35mm one (with a non-Noctigon 20mm MCPCB):

And a 50mm one:

http://intl-outdoor.com/triple-xre-led-25-degrees-optic-p-534.html

I’m not 100% sure if that 20mm PCB that comes with the 35mm optic would work with the Noctigon triple though. Maybe ask Hank?

Also, I posted links for IS and ledsupply.com - both have Carclo triple optics.

You really have to see this to believe.

If/when Hank decides to stock and sale this optics i’ll buy them with 3 x XP Noctigon mcpcb, otherwise not much use for this copper boards for me…
