Thanks. Who did the mod for you on the S-mini? Was it Jon_Slider? He does great work. About the Mojave, in certain light it looks like the finish is like a satin finished light copper. Looks like the non-X can be had for $50~60 lightly used, if you get good eBay timing.
A retired friend of mine that lives the next town over. He lurks on here but doesnāt post anything. I wonāt uncover his identity. He does these kinds of things as a hobby and really doesnāt want to be bothered by request. I was just over there chit chatting as usual and saw that on his desk. I mentioned how I loved those little Sminiās. I have 2 more that I had modded myself a few years ago. He put a 3500k 519 in it and a SP10Pro driver with Andruil 2. Works quite well. He talked me out of one of my Fraz Labs Tiny Tanks.
I normally mod my own lights but, they are putting out such nice lights now days with a great choice of emitter options. Itās getting to where I donāt really need to mod lights anymore.
Love that Mojave. Been carrying it the last few days. I am not real hard on knives so it is holding up really well. One of my better knife purchases the last several months.
Thatās terrific youāve got a friend like that. How do you like the 519A 3500K? Iām amazedā¦ to think that you can revise the driver board and have Anduril running in it! Pretty neat. I love my S1 Ti. This is an older model, before the recent UI change (I like the older one).

What you just said is why a number of my older flashlights are still stock (like NovaTac 120P, Olight M20 Warrior, Surefire U2). I had plans to mod these, or have someone mod themā¦ but the cost involved could be easily spent on a great flashlight. So many wonderful choices now. This is like a dream come true, rolling back to 2009 and wondering what might come next. Iām a bit of a tint snob, but Iām more tolerant these days. Thereās always a risk when doing mods.
I donāt know how he did it and Iām not taking it apart to find out. LOL
I like the 519A at 3500k. My first 519 and my first 3500. Very nice around the house. I donāt carry it out and about. Darn 16340 cell doesnāt have enough run time for me at work or anything. I donāt really want to beat it up at work anyway. I have a EagleTac D25LC2 MarkII for that. Love the UI and the Nichia in it. I bought three of them on Ebay for a reasonable price. They seem to hold up very well. I have been beating them up pretty good for the last few years. They take a beating that the S2+'s couldnāt handle. They didnāt last too long. Tail switches would give up the ghost or something would take a dump on the driver.
Thinking about a mega thrower now. I donāt really have one and it would be useful around here occasionally. I like that Acebeam K75 but Iām not really fond of the price. Think I saw a FT03S for sale on here but their on some not so good reviews of it, along with some good reviews of course. I donāt know. Any ideas on a good thrower?
Donāt tell Olight, if they start putting 519As and Anduril in, reddit would buy them out.
Iām guessing the battery no longer loads in the traditional reverse ānegative toward the headā olight style?
Yeah, I hear you. But when you talk to him next, see if he can shed some light. Very curious about this. I have twin 519A in a FF PL47mu. In this photo, you can see it on the far left:
Very nice blend of 5700k and 2700k. Domed.
EagleTac! Now thereās a name Iāve not seen mentioned in a while. They made some great flashlights. I just never got around to buying one. Somehow I had the impression that the brand had gone out of business, but it looks like theyāre still around. A bit pricey, though. Up to a V3 now, LINK. They look sharp and the front end reminds me of an original Jetbeam RRT01.
The Acebeam K75 is a beast of a price. Astrolux FT03S is nice, but I donāt like NarsilM. Wurkkos TS30S with SBT90.2 is really super. Check out Canngaās posts about it. If youāre interested more in sheer throw than massive spill, consider a Wurkkos TS11, SFT40. Looks like a Thrunite Catapult mini, but with aux-LEDs and $20 less (plus, theyāve got multiple colors AND thereās an 18650 tube option, not available on the Thrunite).
@toddcshoe
I got recently a Wurkkos TS11 a small pocket thrower. I mean really small under 4 inch with the small tube.
Wurkkos has a 18650 tube for it, it comes in black and orange.
RGB Aux and switch LEDs, USB-C
Interestingly nearly no review mentions the flash pads
Maybe you can change the SFT40 to 5000K
I just ordered the orange one and a 18650 tube at the beginning of the month. I am excited to get it. I had a Acebeam E10 I think it was. My buddy wanted it so he got it. Had that same type of TIR lens in it. I liked the throw it had so I am hoping that this Wurkkos is comparable if not better than that light.
I really like that PL47. Great mix. Very nice looking light.
Got the TS11 on the way, in orange. I am a sucker for any color other than black.
I will get more info on the Smini. I would have to get that bezel off and see what he did in there. Iāll just get the info straight from the horses mouth. The battery does not go in backwards anymore and a very small brass (I think) nub was added to the tail cap. He usually takes pictures. Maybe I can talk him out of them. Heās kind of a grumpy old fart. LOL
Haha, well props to him for an impressive mod. And I totally respect his right to privacy. I hope he reads this, though, so he knows weāre fans
I ordered a 10-inch-thick Queen-sized gel memory foam mattress.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y1WGXWP
The price dropped quite a bit since yesterday (down to $159 including shipping, before tax.)
Thatās the lowest price in this itemās history, except for last November when it was even cheaper, but many items are cheapest in November, and I want a new mattress now.
I really hope I like it, because the sellerās return policy (not Amazon) is terrible.
I was looking at these two other mattresses which might be a bit better, but the one I ordered usually expands completely in a matter of hours instead of days, which is something that I need.

Finally broke down and bought a Mitutoyo 500-196-30 digital caliper. My iGaging caliper will be relegated to knife and lathe work.
The new Mitutoyo will be used exclusively for my most precision needs.
I actually moved to using an analog dual-reading (metric/imperial) caliper from Starrett because the batteries in mine are always dead whe. I want them.
Getting old enough that my close range vision is further out than it used to be. Iād rather see easily readable numbers to match up, one less thing for my forgetter to remember.
The mattress was delivered today.
The package weighs almost 62 pounds, though the mattress itself only weighs about 56 pounds.
It was delivered at the base of our long steep driveway.
I brought it up to the house with a dolly, and it was not super easy.
Tomorrow, after breakfast, Iāll put the mattress on my bed and let it inflate (hopefully quickly.)
EDIT:
The box says itās made in Myanmar, but the Amazon listing says itās made in China.
Maybe just the box is made in Myanmar?
Very nice. A Mitutoyo is on my wish list if my Hornady Digital Caliper that I use for reloading ever dies.
I was using an inexpensive Neiko out at the lathe and an iGaging to load with. The shop one was semi-problematic then the battery cover went missing. So the iGaging one will be my knife and shop caliper and the Mitutoyo will serve the more crucial role.
I set up the mattress.
By the time I got the mattress out of the packaging, it was already about nine inches thick.
Since itās advertised as ten inches thick, even if it doesnāt expand any more, Iām happy with how much it has expanded.
I was worried that the mattress wouldnāt expand, or it wouldnāt expand quickly, because of some horror stories in Amazon reviews, but that did not happen.
EDIT:
Man, that new mattress reeks!
Iām currently airing out my room.
I hope it doesnāt smell when I go to bed tonight.
@raccoon You are usually supposed to let them inflate for ~2 days before use so they can reach their full size and air our most of the solvents (ideally standing up on one of the long sides).
Well, I know that last part is not true.
Memory foam mattresses are supposed to be horizontal as much as possible.
They should only be vertical for short amounts of time, and they will fold over on their own weight when vertical.
