I had hoped to find some 18650’s but found these I’m guessing no need to dig father ?
Any information printed on the cells??
What voltage was the battery that you took apart.
18 volt , they were five cell’s in the pack as you can see in my pic the one that still has the paper on it has some info printed on it.
They are Chinese IMR 26700 cells, 3000 mAh
I got them out of a ridgid 24V XLi drill pack.
The red cells on the left are 18650’s for size comparison. There are 6 in this 24V pack
And next to a 26650 protected cell
they are IMR 26700’s, dunno the brand. My milwaukee m12 battery packs have samsung 1500mah IMR 18650’s
OK thanks so not what I’m looking for , this is my first battery pack pulldown , is the actual battery inside the metal housing or is that the battery ?
That is the cell.
I must say, you have been very unlucky, or lucky, depending on the point of view. It took me a very long time to find a pack with 26700’s, You got ’em first try.
If you want 18650’s, most any other drill pack you should come across in the recycle bin will have them.
Keep in mind that drill pack cells are constructed for high ampere draws and are “IMR”
Laptop batteries will contain “ICR” cells and will generally have higher capacity but lower ampere draw capabilities.
I don’t have any experience with these specific batteries… but you got some HIGH drain 26700’s if they are IMR 26700’s. The cardboard can be replaced with some shrink wrap, the actual battery is the metal case of course, but be careful with the naked battery to keep from shorting it from the body to the + pole on top…
These would be ideal in a single/multiple 26650 light for serious amps on tap if they are IMR’s…. You could make a stupid bright thrower with them…
I will be whistling Dixie, by the way….
Trade for 18650’s anybody in the U.S. Probably should put this in the classifieds ?
How many ya got? Do you have a way to test capacity? I need them like a hole in my head (have enough so I am told LOL) but it may be interesting or worth trading a a couple or a few. Maybe make a FrankenDale 26650 light
FYI they appear to be Lishen cells. They are one of the largest and most respected battery companies in China. Probably top 3 along with ATL and BAK. They generally make some pretty decent cells.
Seeing how they’re 26700s and they came from a power tool battery pack, I bet those cells could do 30-40 amps without breaking a sweat. If you don’t have any 26xxx-sized flashlights, you could always wire them in parallel and assemble a portable 200A spot welder
If they are Lishen IMR-26700AB cells, then here are some specs:
Capacity: 2700mAh (Typ), 2600 (Min)
Max Current: 40A
Max Charge Current: 6A
Nominal Voltage: 3.86v
Resistance: 12 mili ohms (AC 1Khz), 16 mili ohms (DC)
Weight: 100g
Dimensions: 26x70mm
