In the reviews of the NV1010 on Convoys site, there are two people who have put those LEDs in a S15 and in a S3 - they use the same reflector as it seems?
Obviously the reflector isn’t doing much, but I would love to have a S15 with that configuration - does anyone know more details, where to buy that reflector?
I vaguely recall seeing one of these mods on reddit. They took a normal S2+ reflector and filed/reamed the bottom until the opening is large enough to fit the LED. The S3 review mentions making spacer, which is necessary to compensate for the reduced height.
So just put the reflector into a lathe and shorten it until it the hole is big enough for the LED?
Can you elaborate further on how you modified the gasket?
This is the exact same process I used to fit an NV1010 into an M21a, but I did start with a 12ishmm reamer, then went with the dremel sanding drum, then polish.
And that’s not enough, I sanded the inner hole a bit bigger, like savagemann has suggested.
I also lathed a ~4mm spacer from aluminium. With that, the pill sits exactly like the one with the LHP531.
I was/am planning to use the NV1010 in the Haikelite HK90S, which uses the ‘G90’ LED and being (a sort of) SBT90.2 clone, I expected it to use the same 10x11mm footprint, but it turned out the G90 led has an actual 9090 footprint and the reflector hole is specifically tailored to that.
That means that I need to enlarge the reflector hole (slightly). If it had an OP reflector, I was less worried, but it has a (very) smooth reflector and I’m slightly worried for small scratches (from ‘filings’). As I said; if it was an OP reflector, I would be less worried, since those are slightly more forgiving.
