[old Interest list, do not use] (was: XHP50.2 (3V) boards for Q8 no longer available)

Need to reorder, got refunded right before Sofirn posted here. Hope price doesn’t shoot up. So: In.

I’d like to have one ,with LEDs on it if possible.

It would be nice to get gaskets and a reflector, in addition to the board.

I might be ok with buying a special edition q8 that has everything factory installed, maybe something fun like a different color anodization.

I would prefer a ready-made special Q8 4*XHP50, in which everything is installed at the factory.

If Sofirn could make the Q8 with the 50.2 (5000ºK) I’d be all in. Otherwise, a Q8 board with the gaskets & reflector will suit me.

This morning they had 1 MCPCB available (https://sofirnlight.com/4xhp502-led-soldered-on-q8-mcpcb-p0119.html ), but now (it’s 6 pm) sold out. Didn’t think much of it as there is a note of custom made after placing order.
Might have lost that one…

I’d be in for a full XHP50.2 3V special edition Q8 ready to go.

If not, i’d like a kit with populated led board, optic and gaskets. No filling or reflowing needed. Just parts swapping.

Got a response from Lan Lee about those Q8 MCPCBs. Seems they are out of XHP50.2 (5000ºK) and may take a month.

But they do have 6500ºK (999x) & 5500ºK (992x) and don’t show on the Q8 board page - ?

All in all, ordering separate host, MCPCB w/ leds, driver (Anduril) and switch; that comes to $52.14 USD. I added a Q8 reflector as I don’t know if it is included with the host. So not a bad deal, mind some tinkering with the reflector to fit the leds and would need some spacers (which I probably have in the drawer). This is all on Sofirn’s WebStore - add a shipping cost of $2.

Erm … so they still do exist, one even has been on offer tonight?

Is there a stock on unpopulated MCPCBs? If yes, I’d prefer reflowing LEDs myself.

Thanks for interst. But the number of interest is not enough. Factory won’t produce it if market demand is not rich.

Wow, that was fast.

We’ll have to pester Lan about Q8 w/50.2s. I count 12 + myself as interested, and that after only 1 week of this thread. Just 1 week; should have given more time to garner interest.
She sometimes gives a plausible answer for non-engagement. Sofirn did backtrack with battery shipping to Canada. Just so recently I ordered some and with a different shipping broker, we’ll see.

And then, if they did re-stock the MCPCBs re-flowed XHP50.2, would be an option to order the separate components.

You’re right. Never give up.

If it fails I would post in the LED4Power sales thread. They were clearanced for only 3 euro/ea before the store went down so could probably find some aftermarket

Lol, I’ve lost all hope in this matter, maybe the market is too small for such things. But if our prayers are heard, I am still up to buy 4 of them!

My mcpcb showed up today!

Now to install it.

Please clean that up with liberal amounts of rubbing alcohol before you do anything. If those balls attached to the pad wont break off touch them with an iron else they might not clear your centering ring. Good luck

Clearance continues next year.

But still pestering Lan :smiling_imp:

I’m glad someone else saw that, too. Don’t wanna smoke the reflector/lens burning up all that flux (the 50.2s will give you the heat for it).

Also, honestly, take a multimeter on continuity mode and check the LED+/LED- leads for continuity to the underside of the reflector. If you get beeps, try again.

As for the earlier discussion asking about centering rings, they’re not too hard to find for 5050 so it shouldn’t be a huge deal. The biggest problem will be the reflector not fitting to begin with, the holes will need to be reamed.

I did the scrubbing, and got the flux off.

Turns out, I forgot to get the centering rings.
Any idea on which centering ring would be best for this?

Well I assume you have to ream out the reflector with step drill bit or sharp scissors (scraping layers off) so you can go slow and ream to whatever size centering ring you have or can easily buy.
