Oldie but goodie (PILA)

Picked these up recently. Awesome lights. Super heavy.

Interesting flashlight bodies! :+1:

Look like 2200mAh cells, too, very vintage :stuck_out_tongue:

Assuming they are P60 style hosts with Xenon drop-ins?

Here is a picture of the emitter if anyone can identify it.

Sparkomatic ?

For real now, looks like maybe old XPE?

I can’t find that brilliant LED resource of all the high Res photos, I was thinking it’s an XR-E.

Hilariously i think these are still being made?!

Depending on MCPCB/footprint, I’d go with an XP-E or XP-P if you wanted to upgrade but maintain some originality (beam shape).

Also, beam shots??

Noice! An old-timey XR-E.

I got a few lights with 'em. Just an E chip, so not the most efficient, but nice package that lets you push some decent current through 'em.

And the package has its own centering-ring of sorts, so reflectors would mate with the package sooooo easily.

Nice score there, Zoulas.
Pila made some terrific minimalist looking flashlights. Very futurist “Bauhaus”. When I first saw one, I figured if Robby the Robot had a flashlight, it would look like this.

This looks like the GL2. I have the GL3 and GL4. Looks to me like the GL2 and GL3 share the same head, just with the GL3 having a longer body for more batteries. The GL4 has a D36 head.

I didn’t think Pila provided any replacement drop-ins. They never had any on their site, from what I remember. But a few 3rd parties make them.

Given the size, I’m thinking it’s a D26.

I ran a Pila IBC as my charger of choice for years. Never picked up one of their flashlights though. They have a great style. I appreciate it more now than I did then.
