You guys did not read the warranty terms.
Only the light and built in non removable batteries get a lifetime guarantee.
Removable proprietary batteries have a two year warranty.
This makes the warranty complete bull crap.
They can shove it.

I’ll crap on olight with the best of them, but idk if complete bull crap is the right word. This is the statement:
If your Olight product (including its structure, built-in battery, LED, or lens) ever experiences any issues, we promise to take care of it. If we are unable to repair your product, we will promptly replace it with a product in perfect working condition, which will be of equal or better physical condition.
How can anyone really expect a company to lifetime warranty a battery? I’m surprised they’re lifetiming built in batteries

If a company makes a decision to manufacture a proprietary battery and not use any of the dozens of universal batteries that exist, cosumers are relying on that company to:
-
Continue to manufacture replacement batteries of which they are under no obligation to do, and
-
Manufacture that proprietary battery at a reasonable price.
I could care less about the warranty on the battery.
If I buy a light today that takes one of those revesed polarity 21700s, I should be able to get a replacement for $10 to $15 and I should be able to get it 15 years after I buy the light.
This is not considered asking for too much.

Everything you’ve said is true and I agree with it but I don’t see how this lifetime warranty statement is upended by any of it. I’d never expect a battery, proprietary or otherwise, to be included

Let me ask you, of all the lights you have, how many have ever failed? For me: 1, and that was DOA, and that was a Convoy that Simon sent a replacement for.
I dont think i ever have a light fail on me.
So how many warranty claims do you think they will get where the customer is the original owner and still has the receipt.
Well, I haven’t been into lights for a lifetime yet lol. They claim to cover the LED and lens through normal use, I’ve definitely had a few lens failures - last one was a DT8K that cracked in a hot car
But I’m a little confused on why we’re picking apart the warranty now - You just said a moment ago that this was a big move, was that dependent on whether batteries are included or not?

There’s no such thing as a lifetime warranty on any battery. I never expected the battery to be covered (not sure who would). I use and abuse my tools, so for me a lifetime warranty means something. Just like with companies like Esee knives and Osprey back packs. I don’t have to worry about pussyfooting around with my gear in case it breaks. I do a lot of outdoor activiites (fishing, hunting, camping, riding quads, shooting, hiking…) I’ve had many types of gear fail. A lifetime warranty means something, that’s all

I agree special batteries need an EOL many years past selling the last light. 10 or so. A lifetime guarantee on buying those is not realistic otoh.

Ridgid has a lifetime guarantee on their batteries if you buy them from Home Depot and you register them.
