The following review was provided by my daughter, Emily. The flashlight was provided by Olight. It came at the same time, in the same box, as the S1A Baton that I (and others) recently reviewed. I told Emily, since I was reviewing the S1A Baton, that if she would do the review for the R50 Seeker, she could keep it. Since she had never done a review before, I required that she write an outline of how her review would be done, which I had to approve before she could begin the review. Below is the final result of her efforts. Enjoy!
The R50 Seeker flashlight is a micro-USB, rechargeable side switch, LED flashlight.
It is an OLIGHT brand flashlight, which is a trusted brand. It features a micro-USB port for the USB charger, which comes with the flashlight.
This charger recharges the built-in, high capacity 4500mAh 3.7V rechargeable lithium battery.
It also has a CREE XHP50 LED, a great LED.
It claims to have the max brightness of 2500 lumens. It also claims to have a max throw of 297 meters, which is about 974ft and 5 inches. It also claims to be waterproof, to have a 5 year warranty, and to be hard to break.
When I first opened the box, I was very impressed with what I saw. The flashlight was safely, and securely inside the box in a sturdy piece of foam.
The extra stuff was tucked away inside a smaller box that sits right next to the foam that holds the flashlight.
The box is a little hard to get out, but once I got it out, and opened it, everything was nicely and neatly packed.
Each item has it’s place, and is easy to get to. When I finally took out the flashlight I instantly noticed that it was just the right weight for comfort. The other thing I noticed is how nice it looked. It’s very cool looking. After I had looked and felt it for a while, I concluded that it was a very nice flashlight.
The modes are one of my favorite features of this flashlight. I’m very pleased with all the modes. I tested each one in a small, dark, room. On low mode, the room was lit up enough to where I could see what I was doing, but not as bright as it would be if I had turned on the lights. I compare it to a bright night light. On medium mode, the room was lit up enough to where I could read without straining my eyes. I compare it to a lamp. On high mode, the room was lit up enough to where I could replace the lights in there with the flashlight, and it wouldn’t make much difference. On turbo, there would be no difference between the flashlight, and the lights in there.
The rechargeable battery is easily charged. First, you attach one end of the USB plug to the provided outlet plug. Second, you plug the other end of the USB cord into the USB port on the end of the flashlight.
Third, you plug it into the outlet plug.
A red light then comes on, and it will stay red until it’s charged. Then you just unplug the flashlight, and you’re ready to go.
Any flashlight has heat, and if you use your flashlight too long then it’ll overheat. This flashlight gets hot on turbo after a couple of minutes. It doesn’t get to hot to where you can’t stand it, but it does get hot enough to where it’s uncomfortable. What’s great about this flashlight is that it steps down in brightness after a couple minutes on turbo and high to keep it from overheating and wasting battery power.
It is pretty small, considering it puts out many lumens. It is just small enough to put in a pocket or a pocketbook, but big enough to get a good grip on it. Its size makes it very practical to use.
In conclusion, this flashlight is packaged well, has high quality, has bright enough modes to find your way in the dark even on the low mode, is really easy to charge, doesn’t get too hot, and is easy to carry and use. My over all review is 5 stars. I really like this flashlight.
