So, I’ve got an old Olight S1 - that’s right, not the S1 Mini, nor the S1R. I’m planning an emitter swap, but I’m not sure what goes well under the optic Olight uses.
I’ve got available 219Cs, 219Bs, Luxeon V and V2, and I’m not sure what else. Basically, if I can improve on either 6500K or 70 CRI (preferably both) I think I’d use the light a fair bit more. My concern is that only XM-L2 (or only 5050) LEDs will look good with Olight’s optic. Anyone have any experience there?
You are right. Only XM-L2 looks right under these optics. I have used both 5D and 7A in mine and these are still very decent leds. Maybe sst-40, but I dont see the advantage.
I was afraid of that. XM-L2 in decent tints is about the only thing I don’t have spares of currently… plenty of CW that I’ve swapped out of things, though… I guess an SST-40 in 5000K would probably have minor efficiency gains, but I was looking warmer than that.
I imagine there’s not much that fits right for alternate optics, either?
Not that I know of. Safer to just order an xlm2 in the tint you like.
