If anyone happens to have tried one next to a SK68 I’d be really interested to know if the middle setting 250 lumens is as bright as the 68 in high mode??
There 3 different options as well … what would the difference between the XM-L2 U2 5C and the XM-L2 U2 1A be???
Nebo makes a couple CR123 size zoomies. I have a really tiny one that I modded with a FET driver and Nichia 219C. Unfortunately the clicky Guppydrv driver I used was defective so it only gets the first mode of any selected mode group (driver isn’t bypassed since I can enter programming mode and choose groups, I just can’t change modes within a group).
Here’s a Nebo that’s probably using a 16340. Looks to be similar size to an Olight S10, complete with sideswitch and charging cradle:Nebo zoomie
Going back to the Lumens query as well, I have other torches that are a genuine 220 and 270 lumens and makes you realise the quoted 300 lumens for a SK 68 (whilst they’re brilliant little torches) is totally exaggerated …… does anyone happen to know if the quoted numbers for this may possibly be realistic …… especially for the mid 250 lms
In your SK68, did you use a 14500 battery, or an AA? I’m not sure if the 300 lumens for the SK68 is legitimate or exaggerated. It could be legitimate if it meant running on a 14500, and it meant the amount of lumens coming off the LED itself, not the lumens coming out of the front. And if it referred to a Cree LED, not a Lattice Bright LED.
I don’t have an answer to your original lumens question, since I currently don’t have the i3.
Yes am using a 14500 but if you put it next to a Led Lenser T7.2 which is 220 lumen the Lenser is massively brighter … a very noticeable difference so the SK 68 whilst it’s a great little pocket torch the power’s hugely over estimated.
Mine arrived today … 620 lm … or don’t they understand where the decimal point goes …… 62 lm … if you carry a handbag and want something “convenient” to put in it great but anything else seriously save your money.
What battery where you using? And did you take any tailcap amp readings? They will tell you a lot on how many lumens it might be making.
Also, this is a floody LED. So will not throw very well, be it a zoomy or reflector light of this size. Assuming you go the XM-L2 version, or did you go for the XP-G2?
The light looks rather mod friendly. A driver swap will make it much more powerful.
It is indeed mod-friendly, xref to the what did you mod today thread 2 weeks ago:
I had the XP-G2 version, and on a 16340 Efest IMR, the high setting was certainly not 62 lumen, I did not measure it before modding but it could well be over 400 lumen. The tailboard can be swapped by the standard board+small Omten switch, if one prefers that.
