Opple Light Master 4 discussion thread (new 2023 model)

YouTube works

100% works. And ???

Is IR likely to distort the lux readings if you conduct the tests in a dark room with only one light source (i.e. the flashlight being tested)?

Why ask a question that has an obvious answer? Of course not, if it’s a LED flashlight.
I am using LM in my work.

can’t get what you mean

what don’t you understand?

you said "But the lack of such a small thing as an IR filter is nonsense, in my opinion. " so IR response part will or will not distort lux reading in the end? seems there are contradictions in your saying.
sorry I a newbie of lighting aspect thing.

As far as I understood, the LM is ok with LEDs but not with Xenon or sunlight.

OK, got it.

The manufacturer should have originally included an IR filter in the design and calibrated readings with it. Perhaps it can be done in the firmware - ignoring IR spectrum. But this is again a question for the manufacturer.

1 Thank

Yes. Any light source that has near-IR in its spectrum.

IR spectrum already omitted. the sensor has IR reading, we just did nothing with the reading.

1 Thank

Now I don’t understand anything )))) are you related to the manufacturer?

To be nitpicking, the advertising doesn’t mention that the LM is suitable for LED lights only. I personally find this to be a minor omission but still, @Egroeg 's observation is interesting, and Opple should consider correcting the datasheet.

Ok. We’ll wait. )))

September 15th would support firmware update, I’v already got android version to test. but still considering how to handle scenario like if some users don’t upgrade, then another problem would arise like totally wrong results for those who don’t upgrade their firmware.
We told the PM before, they should print “Led only” on package. but in the future, daylight, and maybe CFL ought to be supported.

September 15th, is the date they gave me. I personally don’t guarantee this :joy:

Ok. I’m late. (((

“firmware update” in red rectangle.
but still thinking how to deal with those devices which their user do not intend to upgrade. I’ prefer a mandatory upgrade, how do you guys think?

I think it would be a nicer user experience if the user is allowed to not upgrade.

The firmware version could be checked each time the app connects and a notification could be displayed if an important update needs to be installed.

It would be nice if the Android and iOS apps remained backward compatible with older versions of firmware for the LM4.
