it looks like they tried to deliver mine on saturday, but no one was home to sign for it. so I have to go pick it up monday at the post office. so lets see…
ordered 5/16/14
shipped 5/20/14
attempted delivery 5/31/14, so 15 days dont seem too bad… could be a lot worse…
I’ll pick it up on 6/2/14
For those waiting, ordered to USA 5/8, shipped 5/10, and received 5/31.
Unit works as people described, and the fan is very noisy! Lubing the bearing helped a little, but fundamentally this is a very high speed fan, and can be heard from the next room. Looking online evercool (newegg usa) has a 12v (assuming this is a 12v fan) 25 X 10mm fan described as “quiet” for about $9 shipped, but would require some cutting to the back of the case. The only way to effectively quiet this fan is to slow it down, or as another did tie a slower larger fan to the back of the unit and build tall legs.
Easiest way to lube is to peel back the circular electrical tape stuck on the middle of the fan from the outside. This lifts the white mfr label and exposes the bearing surface. Drop a drop of oil in, tip unit and let it run….The fan can be removed by cutting some of the adhesive RTV and sliding it out, but is not necessary.
Best solution for this might be to put it in the garage or basement or a couple of rooms away if the noise is an issue….The control functions of this charger are fun……
Yeah, actually you have a typical one, I use a can of compressed air to give it the bump start. And this is after applying Mobile 1 oil on the bearing which did help on the noise.
Hope they come up with a suitable free replacement. I am not going to spend $10 on a fan for a $40 charger.
Like the charger, hate the fan.
I just finished one discharge test on my Panasonic PFs and they all showed expected numbers. Tonight, just for the heck of it, I will charge the same cells and see their charge figures. I will post photos all together later.
As for the button pressing procedures, it’s very intuitive, although at first I always pressed the ‘mode’ unnecessarily, as I was initially confused coming in from a C9000 user, which has a different 4-button set-up.
As to the fan noise, if you are used to a fan-less charger, then you will find it noisy. Personally, I am not surprised and bothered with such noise as my iCharger’s 38mm wide, variable speed cooling fan is much louder when running at top rpm when discharging 3 to 5 amps.
I wonder if anyone who has bought this analyzer also own any ‘high-capacity’, much-maligned xxxxxfire cells? If so, can you please post your discharge-capacity result here?
Here are some photo of various cells that I have tested. In each case I fully charged the cells with the BT-3100. Afterwards I discharged them through the charger and wrote the discharged capacity on each cell. I then recharged them and each picture shows the recharge mAh as displayed by the charger.
First a pic of 4 of the so called Red “3000” mAh UltraFire 18650
Here are 4 “900” mAh TrustFire 14500
And lastly just to see how they would measure, 4 Sony IMR, 1500mAh 18650. I got these from a used Makita drill pack found in a recycling bin.
Edit: I noticed even their charging capacities have less charge than discharge capacity, so they must have decreasing discharge capacities in the red Ultrafire on the next cycle…
