How are we looking Jon?
All good?
Im glad you asked for an update, because I also want to know the tracking numbers for the packages and there has been silence since this preshipment communication from the seller:
on August 29th, I received a message from the seller, that the lights
āwill be shipped out todayā
.
I have just now emailed to ask the Seller for the tracking numbers.
Last time it took about a week for the lights to get airborne out of Oz and about another week to reach their destinations (guessing from vague memory)
I think the Kangaroos with the mail pouch were on Walkabout, and packages destined for Europe took a couple of hops to go from Queensland to Syndney, before boarding the airplane.
Im guessing you may have your light by Sept 14th.
Wow, well thatās fast if it comes by Sep14th.
Thx!
Update
tracking info has been sent to the people receiving packages direct from OZ
and I have tracking for the lights coming to me for reship CONUS
As of Sept 4th, the packages are in possession of the Kangaroo Post and are making their way across the outback, one hop after another⦠![]()
Please be patient, staff has a full pouch, and they take long lunch breaks.
btw, I want to warn everyone to be careful not to overtighten the screws when you install the pocket clip.
I had two reports of stripped screw holes on the previous group buy. One of them was mine, and it happened because I attempted to make the clip have a stronger bite⦠I bent it more, on purpose.
that was a bad idea⦠in order to get the screw in, I had to press on the clip that I overbent, and I ended up spinning the screw a few times, before it started to bite, thereby destroying the first few threads
before that, the screw holes were fine.
that clip is now attached with JB weld, note to self, dont expect to unscrew it
the other report was from someone that bought a resold RRT-01, in stock configuration, from the last group buy. The second buyer complained that the screw holes were stripped. (the lights arrive with the clip uninstalled, the second buyer installed the clip, and then complained). I believe the stripped screw holes were caused by overtightening during the installation of the clipā¦
the holes are in aluminium, the screws are steel, so yes, it IS possible to strip the threads if you overtighten.
do not copy my bad idea to bend the clip in a way that makes the clip holes not sit flush over the screw holes and then try to make the screw pull the clip flatā¦
I went back to a stock clip, not my overbent one, and it works perfectly well to retain the light⦠dont screw it up⦠![]()
Threads on original are poorly made. Pitch vary from one flashlight to the other.
On 2019 RRT thereās noticable difference in threads quality.
Be carefull when you start first few turns and go all the way slowly.
And as Jon said, do not overtighten!!
Instead, some Loctite will do.

Eagle has landed

My bird is still in the air...

Most of you should all be receiving tracking from your Paypal account
(2 people got tracking by PM from me)
if anyone does not get tracking, one way or another, let me know by PM, and I will find yours
Enjoy!
Got my notice - Thanks!
My two came in today all in good order.
Thanks again!
Mine arrived almost a week ago in Europe.
many thanks jon_slider!
(Just finding this thread. . .)
Got any more?
no,
all the 2012 RRT-01 (has no tailswitch) sold out 6 years ago
the best deal right now is on the 2020 RRT-01 Raptor (w tailswitch)
review of 2019 model w no tailswitch
The Original RRT-01 also had no tailswitch, it first came out in 2011, and had no strobe, claimed output was 500 lumens. (XM-L LED)
Then it came out again in 2012, with strobe, claimed output 600 lumens (LED changed to XM-L2). NiteEye Eye10 also came out in 2012, with the same driver and LED.
The 2019 also has strobe, claimed output 950 lumens w XP-L LED.
2020 Raptor also has strobe, claimed output 950 lumens w XP-L, also offers a Low CRI Nichia 219C w Orange Peel reflector. The 2020 model adds thermal step down, and a tailswitch.
fwiw, Jetbeam, NiteEye and Sunwayman were all independent divisions of the same parent company, Sysmax. The Sunwayman rotary driver is of different construction than the driver shared by Jetbeam and NiteEye. A Jetbeam Driver does not fit in a Sunwayman.
Actually group buy is for the 2021 model. The 2020 model has no tailcap switch.
EDIT: Iām a year off. The 2019 model has no switch. The 2020 is the latest model RRT01 and has a switch.
actually yes, I just listed one from my personal collection
If you want to bend the clip to have stronger bite:
- Press firmly on the clip so the top of the clip with the holes lays flat against the light for the entire time you are screwing. Only release the pressure on the clip when the screws are all the way down. This should minimize the chances of the threads stripping because the threads wonāt take any load until the screws are fully in place.
- I havenāt had any problem with Jetbeam clip screws as they are somewhat fatter than the screws on some of my other lights. However, if you want to prevent them from vibrating loose, apply purple low-strength threadlocker to the screws before installing them. Weak threadlocker like this is enough to prevent accidental unscrewing, while at the same time being easily removable if you later decide to remove the clip.
