Osram Olson SSL (90+CRI) DTP Triple Aluminum Sinkpads ALL CLAIMED/new list started, interest list for emitters STILL AVAILABLE.

LOL, I am with you Ouchyfoot. I like the ones in the OP that I ordered, not the most powerful or anything, but a great 4000K light and nice rendition of color. I carry one at work, to compliment my other light with a 219B in 4500K, both are nice in their own way…

As of late, I have become a minimum Amp person. I will post some updates on my latest build, a Convoy S2+ triple where you only need the optics and the triple board, with a 1.4A AK driver. Plenty of light for most people, actually decent run time even on high (1/2 hour on 700mah 18350, 3 hours on medium at ~425ma, and 10 hours on low at 70ma). This is what started me on a quality of light vs quantity of light and led me to these LED’s…

I will sit down this weekend, and PM with Djozz should the need arise to figure out the final HIGH CRI Led for this. It will have to be IN STOCK at the moment, this way we can get the boards out and to people.

I am fine like Djozz if it is the SSL80, a real nice LED, if not cutting edge. The price would be under $2 shipped each LED if we get over 100, cant find a Cree XPG2 or similar for that price…. That is for the most expensive ones, it MAY be less…

This is BUDGET Light Forum after all…

PS- Ouchyfoot, those are the optics that also fit the Noctigons as well, the boards are designed for the legs on those, both the SinkPADs and the Noctigons.

I can’t decide whether to up my order on the emitters. Don’t know why there’s no osram boards under 20mm.

There is no rush on these, it will be this weekend sometime before I can say with some finality on the SPECIFIC Osram Oslon LED. I have gotten into the “whoops, which one?” issue here and want to make sure we are getting a good output on what is ordered.

As far as the single boards below 20mm…. I had less difficulty putting a single SSL80 on a 16mm XP board, I could use a Qtip to hold the LED in place, too many LED’s on a triple for that to work….

The OSRAM LED has a smaller foot print than the CREE XP, so if the solder on each pad of the board is different in volume (not much to begin with) when flowing them onto a XP board, they will drift off to the pad with less solder. This is unlike an XP on an XP board, where the difference is less due to the larger LED, so it “sucks” to the pads better. It is not much smaller 3mmX3mm vs 3.5mmx3.5mm for the XP, but it made enough difference to me that I went in search of specific boards and found them at SinkPad….

I did some googling on the different high CRI oslons, this is the summary:

-as said by chouster, the 96CRI gen.2 Square is nowhere to be found yet

-there's a one generation newer SSL80 4000K 96CRI than the one in the OP, (LCW CR7P.CC-KSKU-5J7K-1 ), with minimally more output and the same thermal resistance (~10), but the Vf is lower. Available are just the 3000K and 4500K versions at rs-online (I can order there via work and have them by next week, but not everyone can), Mouser and Digikey list it but have none available.

-there's a two generations newer SSL80, available at rs-online, with much improved thermal resistance (5.3), but the best CRI available is 90, typ. 92. And we aim for that great 96CRI in this thread

So there is something to be said for the newer SSL80 with lower Vf, this will certainly help current+output in single-cell triples, but as said the old gen. SSL80 is a great led too, we were not hunting lumens here anyway.

Inspired by this thread I got greedy and ordered at rs-online some 4500K 96CRI 'newer gen.' SSL80 (LCW CR7P.CC-KSKU-5J7K-1)

and some 'newest gen.' 4000K 92CRI SSL80 leds (GW CS8PM1.CM-KSKU-A535-1) for testing and modding :-) These last leds I expect to have the same tint and light quality as the 92 CRI Oslon Square leds that I recently tested, but in thermal resistance the Square is way superior (3, vs 5.3 for the SSL80)

(render, not real picture)

So unfortunately I did not manage to get exactly the newer version of the 4000K 96CRI SSL80 from the OP and my old test. So I don't really think that one of these leds will be true replacements for ReManG's leds from the OP, but for me at least these are fun too :-)

I think I was looking at that first 4500k 96cri at mouser. Could be nice.

I would like two boards and 6 LEDS if available. Though I’m not exactly sure what is happening here?

Hi guys!

Between these Oslon SSL80 and SSL150 used with Carclo triple 10507 optic, I'd guessed that the SSL80 would be more throwy, but after checked Carclo's site, I found out that my guess was wrong. The SSL150 has more lux (cd/lm: 12) than SSL80 (cd/lm: 8.5).

Oslon SSL150: http://www.carclo-optics.com/optic-10507?ledmanufacturer=osram&ledfamily=ssl%20150%20degree

Oslon SSL80: http://www.carclo-optics.com/optic-10507?ledmanufacturer=osram&ledfamily=ssl%2080%20degree

I will pass this board.
I thought it is 20mm rounded board but it is hexagonal. It won’t to fit with my modded plan.

Thanks.
Kim.

No problem, like I said, I jumped in with both feet and not looking. The star is rounded, but to set it up in parallel you have to jumper it…

I am talking with SinkPad, they state they may be able to do a run of these in parallel, if they do I will request round as well, I prefer it as well.

I will post here any updates. Sorry about the lead in before getting them, I just assumed it was like a Noctigon and that is on me…

I would still like the board and led’s, I might try and use enamelled copper wire to link it out for parallel, shouldn’t be a problem

I only use Teflon wire now. I think it’s superior. Each strand is silver coated. Anyway, the point is, it’s way thinner than silicone wire. You could wire up that triple board neatly without all the bulk. I might be doing the exact same wiring on a triple Luxeon board tomorrow. I’ll post a pic.

PS. If you’re talking to the sink pad people, see it they can do 16mm osram singles.

I was using what I had, but mostly ticked at myself for not realizing it prior to ordering… I will ask about the 16mm OSRAM singles while I have their ear…
