I ordered a few of these and played around with them tonight. I can’t find a data sheet on them but I guess they are similar to the 4715AS. I cut down a Bergquist PCB to 16mm, used Artic Silver, and I’m pushing it at 2.16A. Hasn’t blown yet. Anybody else used these? What can I push them to? The 4715AS was rated at 1.5A and I routinely push them to 2.16-2.54A.
Well, I didn’t kill it. Left it on 100% for 30 minutes and it was still kicking. Light was hot though.
Thanks, good to know. I’m playing with IR now for night vision.
I found a data sheet some time ago but it is no longer available for download.
SFH 4725AS A01 is the 90° variant of the 150° SFH 4726 A01. The electrical part of the datasheet (inofficial download here) is identical.
Forward current diagram ends at 5 A.
Thank you
1.5A continous operation
IR LEDs are meant to be pulsed usually thats the datasheet ends at 5A,
but 5A is at tp ≤ 450 μs; D = 0.005 %
Yes thats 0.005% so on max ontime of 450us you got 9 seconds cool down time
to reach 2.5A should be possible in usual flashlight use
but above that without TEC cooling or massive CPU heatsink not a good idea
You can find the oficial product page here (incl. datasheet download).
I use them as illuminator for my night hunting device, but max. to 1750mah.
I looked and searched and never found the datasheet on their site. Thank you. I have run my 4715AS at 2.16A for the last couple years without any problems. I’m assuming the 4725AS will behave similarly.
