hi guys.
i was planning to build a 850nm IR flashlight using Osram SFH 4716AS IR850nm IR Emitter
and based from this data it can accept 1.5A at max, so i want to ask if it can accept more than that like 2A maybe?
I got one of those LEDs as well, but the one with the higher dome which suits better for aspherical flashlights as it has only 60° radiant
this one from KD has 150° radiant so you loose a lot in throw position on asphericals,
on the other had it has in reflector lights more light getting in the hotspot and less in spill
Those LEDs have a 3535 footprint but different padsizes, which makes it not easy to get them on a cree XPL footprint often you get a short and need to redo the reflow
if KD has made those stars with a separate solder mask matching those LEDs that would be great
I was wondering why digikey suddenly had none of those emitter left when I checken an old cart with this LED inside
personally I would not go beyond 1.75A
so its better for reflector and bad for aspheric lens.
i want to use it on my convoy C8 host for this led and got a SMO reflector for it since i want more throw for night hunting using
the LED has the same 1mm² die compared to XPE2 LED so its throw should be maybe a little better because the flatter dome
for the C8 it might be nessesary to tune the spacer thickness to get optimal focus
1900mW typical radiant flux at 10us pulse with 1.5A is impressive on DC operation it can be a little higher
which spacer should i use? xpg or xpe?
can it be driven 400mA more than specs given since its use copper base plate?
if my calculation is right at least it will produce 6.3watt from fresh battery 4.2V with 1.5A driver
