Overblown Concerns Over Li-ion Batteries Stored in Cars

I imagine that the tesla batteries never reach the temperatures that car interiors reach when they are sitting in the sun (170F/80C).

Most of the pushback against li-ion cautions is from the tobacco industry, which in China is a government monopoly.
They’re rushing to cash in on the vaporizers. Kickstart addiction among young people? Yes.
Trust them, they’ll warn you if there’s any risk involved.

The question isn’t what the battery manufacturer’s recommend. The question is how well documented their concerns are? If this discussion thread is any indication, then the answer is, “very little.”

Have you ever seen any product manufacturer that linked to scientific evidence supporting their safety precautions?

Here’s another universal precaution (on microwave ovens): “Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open-door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy.”

Would you likewise demand links to scientific studies backing that precaution? If not, why? How is it different from the above-listed precautions on Li-ion storage from all of the top-tier manufacturers?

What the manufacturer’s recommendations are is not the subject of this discussion thread.

However, you’re entitled to your opinion. Feel free to discuss the merits of the manufacturer’s recommendations.
