But how do I know my order is affected? Untill now I did not get a email. (I am in the first orders)

Second question, do we get a personel notice when the goods are shipped? (Registered with batteries)

If you order is affected then you should get a message from Neal requesting extra payment for shipping. If you do not get this message then assume your order is not effected.

If you live in one of the country’s listed and have not get a message, then you can send Neal a message to get more details.

I have not heard from Neal all week, so I can’t say much more then that. I am thinking he is already gone for china New year.

Yes, last I heard they will be trying to ship them in order for the remaining orders.

I asked them about switching to DHL but they never responded to that question.

I told them that people need the tracking numbers and they need to send them but got no response yet.

Thanks for the lock SB, it was a much needed break. During the downtime I found a Solution to shipping charges that should work for everyone. As I kept trying to tell everyone, Just give me some time to work through all the details, get the facts and then negate a viable solution. Don’t fly off the handle over rumors. These things take time. After some back and forth talking to Lumintop over the last few days I think we came to a workable agreement. In an effort to once again show how much they stand behind their products and BLF they will be paying the extra costs for shipping out of their own pocket. So it goes to show just how much of a stand up company they are and why I do not want to jeopardize our relationship with them. Now like any good business deal there is some give and take. In order to reduce their losses they will be shipping the affected orders with some alternative shipping services, these will most likely be slower then the methods they planned to use. If your order is affected you should of already or will still get a message requesting extra payment for shipping. You are welcome to pay the extra fee and work out the faster shipping method with Neal if you prefer this. Otherwise everything will proceed as planned, it just might take longer for it to show up. The other change on our end will be that for the next batch of orders those in the affected countries will need to pay the extra shipping cost up front with their order. This was the only way they would agree to eating these costs. Which I completely understand. There is a big difference between taking a known loss and leaving yourself open to unknown levels of losses in future orders. These countries would cause them to loose money even on the $157 lights. So you see, everyone got all upset over nothing. In the end, no one has to pay extra for shipping unless they want to for faster service. I want to publicly thank Lumintop for being so great to work with and really going the extra mile for us with this project. I look forward to a long fruitful relationship with them.

If you want something lightsaber-ish, try a well-optimized aspheric lens light. All hotspot with virtually no spill. Here are some shots of my modded Jax Z1’s beam:

The GT definitely has much higher lux and lumens, but it also has a wider donut-shaped beam up close and it has a spill area around the beam. Smaller zoomies tend to work better as lightsabers. Or you could just get a lightsaber. That works too.

Oh Thanks A Lot TK! Now I have this crazy scheme in mind to use my GT as a host for the 7” condenser lens that’s been sitting here beside me forever, I’ve even got a Canon aspheric out of a wide angle lens as a pre-focus optic so the large condenser’s focus point is a more realistic length. Won’t be able to sleep now til I figure out how to go about machining a focusing tube to hold the big lens and an adapter to hold the pre-focus lens into the GT’s pill….

Edit: Some preliminary testing shows the hot spot in stock form about 10” in diameter at ~25’ away. With both lenses I have, the square die shown is about 6” at that 25’ distance. With just the large lens it’s a little less than 2”! I’ll have to have the large lens 18” away from the XHP-35 if I use it singly though… or about $140 for a section of aluminum tube to allow it to work. (plus one or two 12”x12” flat sheet at 1/2” thick to allow me to join everything up, at $30 each. Can get expensive fast huh?)

Edit II: A pic of the result as shone across the room. The longer distance only the hot spot showed in the picture and gave no reference to size…

The canvas on the wall of my boy when he was younger is 20” x 24”, the hot spot this close is much smaller than the camera shows here.
