My main use for this light will be spotting deer in the open fields near my home. This will be a great way to find out where the big bucks are hanging out. Some may consider this cheating, but not me.
It would be excellent for that WJ! In Maine it would be 100% illegal despite the innocent reason. I wish we could join you and do it.

A friend sent me the vid link and i thru it on the TV, my wife watched with me and at the end she looked at me and waved her hand and said “Yeah, go ahead… for the $ and what it does, it’s sure as hell cheaper than the other lights you’ve got!”
… what can i say, I’m blessed with a wonderful, supportive and forgiving woman. 
(I can at least justify it in that it allows either of us to easily throw some light from our front windows to our bar across the field)
I told my wife that it will be a great flashlight to take camping.
(My wife and I have been together for 20 years. We haven’t gone camping once.)
I actually certainly didn’t help myself by proudly telling her, “This flashlight will throw the beam nearly a mile! But since we live in the city there’s not enough open space to realistically use it.” :person_facepalming: 
I usually use a smaller light like a U21vn or T21vn to check on my tip ups at night, but I bet that the GT will excel at this also.
I usually use a maxabeam to check the bar, this will be a nicer light for that particular job.

It’s too bad I can’t get a MatrixBrute at BLF prices. It’s a phenomenal synth, but it also comes with a phenomenal price tag. BLF has me spoiled.
Well, situation has me semi spoiled. i have a forgiving wife and a flexible life right now. It has allowed me a few grand lights. currently working on getting my VSS-3a up and running.
I put an XHP70 into the prototype the other day. I am missing the resistor to bump the power up, so it is only slightly brighter then the xhp35 lumen wise right now and it has a dark spot in the middle but it is still the best throwing light I have now next to the xhp35 version.
With an XHP70.2 and twice the power it should improve drastically.
This one already does over 1000m of throw at a mere 2.5A at 12V with the old unknown bin xhp70.

By how much (If any) do you think the reflector has to be shimmed to focus better?
