So I decided to pick up some of these zooming sk98 ultrafire flashlights. Several people at my work use em, so I wanted one to rip apart and criticize lol. Turns out they are disgusting as expected with the hollow pill and all, and even had the tailcap holding ring installed backwards… Not sure that was possible without those two dimples to get any sort of force onto it. I saw that a penny fit perfectly, so I pounded one out to create an interference fit, sanded somewhat flat and pressed in. I’d like to pick up a 20mm driver to bump it up from the 1.0-1.3a that it puts out. I ended up using an XPL-HI, designed to work more efficiently with secondary optics instead of the dedome, and it worked fairly well. The drivers were drawing different amount of power but fairly close. These lights came with a Chinese XP-E clone.
