Hiya guys, decided to join the party, late, again.
Hopefully and high possibility will be finished in a couple of days.
So, the story behind is…
I have some 16xxx sized (340 & 650) batteries laying around, because I don’t have the flashlight that use those specific battery anymore nor it’s broken.
I want to make a flashlight that can fit those batteries. Besides of high CRI, now I need a bright and a bit throwy one, 6500K SFT-42R from Convoy picked!
Yeah, funny enough that I don’t have a bright low CRI on my daily rotation. So that’s the main reason this flashlight gonna be born. Lol
Materials
Had some spare nor leftover rods. Decided to use copper for the pill and brass for the body. Here’s the materials picked:
- 3/4 inch copper rod - 1.5cm long, gonna be tricky to machine it!
- 8mm brass rod prepped to make a positive contact button for replacing the driver spring.
- 7/8 inch brass rod - still have pretty good length.
- 20mm machined C954 aluminum bronze rod to make the switch retaining ring.
Choosing parts that can fit into:
- 18mm x 1mm O-ring(s).
- 18mm x 1.5mm glass.
- 16mm x 1.5mm 5050 MCPCB from Convoy.
- 17.8mm x 11.7mm reflector - IIRC, it came from the Torpedo AA host from KD.
- 5050 butterfly gasket.
- 17mm x 1.7mm 8A buck driver from Convoy.
- TS10 Clip - want use it as a deep clip. Yep, no custom clip at the moment.
- 16mm reverse clicky switch.
- Nylon ring/adapter & 10mm rubber button.
Measuring the length, diameter, etc.
Sorry about my crappy writing. Some other measurement will be done on the go.
Alright, that’s it for the intro. Next post will be the machining process, and so on. By the time I post this, I already make the pill and the internal of the head. Aand “almost” done the body, but need to remake that.
Hope you guys enjoy the progress, cheers!
