Plane crashed 39 years ago today ….
I love Mountain!
Check this out. It’s Leslie West when he was in the Vagrants back in 1964. He was 19 years old here! There’s a closeup of him during his solo.
They’d just left from a concert here, many of my friends were there
Here’s some Jim Croce

Don’t know if you will like these Justin, but here are a few of my picks…
This guy is playing a shovel…
-Justin Johnson - Crankin’ Up the 3-String Shovel Guitar! Credit to Sawmaster above, did not see his link…
That shovel’s getting a workout !
How about some cheery ’ol banjo and fiddle ?
Mark O’Connor with Heroes - Arkansas Traveler
Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys - Arkansas Traveler with fiddles and banjo
Ahhh, I saw where Sawmaster had posted it a few threads above…. I looked through the rest of the thread before posting, just not the last page obviously… This place is awesome… I will strikeout my link…
“When Jimi Hendrix was asked how it felt to be the world’s greatest guitarist, he is reported to have said: ‘I don’t know, go ask Rory Gallagher’”
Rory Gallagher, If I Had A Reason
Rory is on one of the first places in my Hall of Fame
Some of his best: Moonchild, A Million Miles Away, I’m Not Awake Yet etc.
And as many of R&R bards he left the scene too young.
Back in ‘74 in Corpus Christi, TX, Rory Gallagher and his band walked into the Lonesome Coyote Saloon UNANNOUNCED ! on a Saturday night at midnite, plugged in their equipment and took the stage til the place had to shut down at 2AM. Asleep At the Wheel had been playing earlier… Totally freaked me out ! Rockin’ dude! What a NIGHT !
ELP ,Yes, Uriah Heep, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Toto, Krokus, The Nice, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Family, UK, Wishbone Ash, The Buggles, Atomic Rooster, The Firm, Gary Numan, AC/DC…
Sound like part of the epitaph of one era …? They really are!
Don’t know another group associated with so famous relatives.
And there are not so many others can charge you for the day!
Asia - Heat Of The Moment
Asia - Voice of America
Asia - One Step Closer
Absolutely in my Hall of Fame
They were fresh, although commercial whiff of prog rock in the end of the time when do not know when the song ends …
Edit
Missed to mention that such wealth of sounds I can only compare with some funky formations.

Rush - 2112
from 1976
“Influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand, the album features the side-long title suite. Based in the future, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. By 2112, the world is controlled by the “Priests of the Temples of Syrinx,” who determine the content of all reading matter, songs, pictures – every facet of life.“
2112 is heavily featured in the book “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline, which is what led me to the song (again).
“Ready Player One” is now being made into a Spielberg movie.
Someone who shall remain nameless foisted Benny Hill kazoo theme on my poor unsuspecting subconscious so I’ve been staving it off with Gordon Lightfoot’s Early Mornin’ Rain. Lots of great old tunes I can bring to the battle.
:+1:
Not a band I’m generally fond of, but they’ve made the song that’s currently on the top of my list. I can’t listen to it without turning it up real loud
