Good Lord, forget that dedomed part, it’s not going to happen!
I doubt it. Copper has downsides which make it less appealing for general use and reduces the market mostly to just enthusiasts:
- Higher price
- Heavier
- Stinky hands
… and while I’d love a dedomed 519A 5700K, it doesn’t seem to be feasible here. At best, maybe it could be dedomed by the user. I hear it’s particularly easy for this LED.
I’m a little worried about changing to a boost or buck driver, because there’s a high chance of losing the low modes. The old FET+1 driver may be primitive, but it has very high dynamic range… and for a light this small, I don’t use more than 100 lumens so I’d be happy even with just the “+1” part, a single 7135 chip. A nice Lume or thefreeman driver would be awesome, but it doesn’t seem like that will be an option. Would also enjoy having gchart’s SP10 Pro driver in a TS10, which might be a bit more feasible.

I just wanna say I’m taking it personally (JK, of course) that 3500K isn’t in the poll.
Seriously, it’s a very good approximation of the overdriven halogen lights all the flashaholics had in the early to mid 00s and it is nice.
I was lucky enough to get some old Novatac lights modded with the 519a in 3500K and it’s the first time I’ve handled an LED light that doesn’t give me the itch to reach for an antique to get back to that revered CCT.

Wurkkos is considering both 5000K and 3500K. And even if they only do 5000K…
DeDomed 519a 5000K is 3800K with even nicer tint than Domed 3500K

I agree. Copper is more of a collectors niche kind of material for a flashlight.
I have a few of them and, while they look nice on my shelf, given proper maintenance, I hardly ever use any of them due to exactly the reasons that Toykeeper mentions.
I think first get a good design down, then if it does well, maybe, consider a special edition copper version.

I prefer 1800k, the same emitters used in Fireflies lights and Hank lights.

I love my 1800K FFLs and dedomed 2700K 519As but those are definitely not broad-market-appeal. Maybe later on as a special edition, sure, I’d jump on it, but for starters I’d go with a more typical High CRI 4000K, just to ensure the project actually goes anywhere

I would have one in 1800k single Led (rosy from FFL) with boost driver for AA support, same for an headlamp
