I will definitely have to buy some server space for image hosting! this is the third image hosting service that I have to switch from this year, first two simply lost all my content,
didn’t even bother to inform me they are shutting down…
So, if you use Postimage, better save your content on time…
Yes, there is a storage limit as well as a bandwidth limit. You can have more than one photobucket account if you have more than one email account.
I have never exceeded my storage or bandwidth limit under any alias.
I think it’s a pity BLF doesn’t allow to upload images.
They should, and limit the upload size to 200 KB or something, which is usually more than enough (and pages will load fast).
There are 1,000,000 messages, and with each one containing a 200KB picture it would still only be 200 GB.
Storing the images on the BLF server would increase the bandwidth they have to pay for by a huge amount, even if the file size was 200 kb. The text portion of any post is miniscule in comparison.
For example the above portion of this post takes up less than 200 uncompressed BYTES, not Kilobytes.
That pretty much sums up why I don’t allow image hosting here. It’s not the storage space as much as it is the bandwidth cost, which can get out of control really fast with a moderate-high traffic site like BLF.
Thanks a lot to Sirius9 for the heads-up… So now that Google Drive / Google Photos no longer allows public image hosting via direct link, it’s looking like either Flickr and/or Photobucket for me.
