Power dial ?

Most of the time i come up with an idea doesnt amount to much..

Ive Googled it and cant find what im looking for.. that could be a bad thing as that idea sucks, or not many have tried it.. has anyone made a tail switch that is a rotating dial, it can turn the light on/off and have a smooth power up/down.. have a slightly longer tail cap and have the knob flush or slightly lower than the tail cap, cutouts on the sides lets you rotate it while keeping the tail stand as a feature..

There’s a few things that make this approach difficult.

  1. You would need multiple wires for the knob to communicate with the driver.
Unless you put the driver in the tail and then you might need a thermal sensor in the head near the LED to monitor the temperature, then you’d need wires for it.

  2. The knob would potentially greatly affect water resistance.

Do you have any Anduril Lights? With Anduril you click and hold the button to ramp up or down the brightness.
The ramping speed is also adjustable.

Like this ancient thing?

Something like that.. but yeah routing the wire would be a pain, and the contacts would be worth it to be able to remove the cap for the battery.. up by the head would make more sense..

Hall sensors! (probably patented and proprietary by a company like sue:fire:

Obviously it misses your main point of designing the dial into the tailcap, but it showed it could be done very effectively,

I liked my Eagletac M3C4 for that rotary ring. Better placed than in the tail for one handed use.

The Sunwayman V series were cool too.

Doesn’t matter, im never going to buy anymore lights… oh wait, thats right, i had one question about one light months ago and you guys pushed me into getting all i have now and starting another shopping cart of parts.. yeah yeah, just spare parts. Thats what i will tell others it is, oh and theres the Christmas list that needing to be filled.. yous are a bad influence.. lol

You should try out an Anduril 2 light.

On Hue Driver I use the entire body as a knob for selecting color, just rotate the whole thing as a dial…
Than a quick button press lock the selection.

The same concept could be used for brightness settings, but for my driver I wanted to keep this exclusive to Hue selection.

I keep see that name.. guess i need to check that out..

These days, I use Anduril lights 95% of the time.
Very rarely use clicky switches anymore.
Weapon and emergency lights are clicky though.

All weapons mounted lights are single mode WTFO..
Click or tape switches.
Hand held id like to go all out with a 2 mode, 5% to WTFO and a good click or a self cleaning slide switch..
