I have a MHC9000, not pro. I’ve had it for years and have never had a problem with it charging NiMh batteries. Its even revived some of my older batteries that previous chargers have determined as bad.
The non pro version is legendary. They made this model long before there was ever a flashlight hobby. I can’t comment on the pro model. Seems the only thing they changed was the display.
Oh yeah , as zoulas said , this is a legendary charger ! I do have one from 2014 , and is working like a charm every time , on new or older batteries .
It is worth every penny , never heard about somebody complaining ... Once you get familiar with UI , will be easy to use it .
I have three of them. One was from the first run. Maybe 12+ years old (?). Two of them newer by a couple of years. I use them all frequently, at least twice per week. I have had no problems with any of them. They treat the batteries well and do the job. Lots of flexibility in charging rates and the wonderful break in mode. I will try to find the Silver Fox review and link it from CPF. He had nothing but positives to say.
However, the comments relate to the first earlier version of the charger, which although the comments are appreciated, they may not necessarily apply to the Pro version as well. The reason I say this is that the Pro version seems to have a different display arrangement, has a memory mode, and might have other component changes as well.
As mentioned in my first post, there seem to be more issues with the Pro version as reviewed by some users elsewhere, and as noted by Johnny_Bravo post as well.
So, I would like to have comments from people who actually use or have used the Pro version of this charger, please.
I’ve put a great deal of use on a pair of MHC9000 (not the pro version) for at least the past 10 years without issue and they continue to perform as new. If I recall correctly, the early versions of this charger had sporadic problems missing termination and/or undercharging, which was acknowledged by the manufacturer. The problems were corrected in a later firmware (not user upgradable). The manufacturer paid return shipping for my 2 chargers and sent me 2 new ones with the latest firmware, which resolved the issues. I hope they still stand behind their products as they had in the past.
If I were to replace them, I would search for the non-pro version. Of the 25-30 other chargers I own that are capable of charging NiMH cells, none perform as well or as consistently as the MHC9000.
I also checked that out when I bought my Powerex Imedion cells way back in 2013 I think, and it clearly shows that are from the same manufacturer.
However, while I am a big fan of their MH-C9000 charger, the 16 AA and 12 D Imedions I bought several years ago already started to decrease in capacity fast and are all trash now. Same with the Tenergy D cells, btw.
Perhaps subcontracted from a B-grade you-know-where manufacturer?
Mine are ~10 year old. I’m light user and it works nicely. If I remember correctly, there was then two names for them, one with pro and other withouot, but I may not remember correctly.
Only annoying thing are, that display are allways on.
