Prometheus Lights is 4/7 New Owner

Looks like Jason just made the announcement at the Shot Show.

Link to his FB page, scroll down for the video: Shot Show Announcement

I guess that’s good news?

Have a Quark Tactical with clip, but that’s about it.

Chris

I do not see the play here, but Jason surely has a plan as I am sure the acquisition was not inexpensive.

Jason will turn out some amazing product, but if we want them, we will pay substantially

I have no doubt of that…just wondering what opportunities will now be available to him that he did not have access to previously. He is OG in the custom light game but he has not enjoyed the surge in popularity with the likes of Okluma and Hanko. Perhaps he is trying to change that. Just my opinion but I never really have associated Olight or 4/7 as high end, quality or desirable lights. I am honestly surprised that Olight is a popular as it is today.

Thanks for sharing, good to know where they are heading.

I am sure the engineering knowledge and patents alone are worth a lot, but I am not familiar with the new owners’ previous products, unfortunately.

Thanks, cellguy.

Can’t say i”m surprised 4sevens crashed, it was built on the enthusiasm and support of CPF members with a great first line of product designed with the competitive advantage of a flashaholic community feedback, it grew incredibly quick and cut ties and communication with the community that inspired it’s products, it turned from a product company to a marketing and communication company shilling with countless social media personalities pushing their now mediocre (remember how many years the preflash problem pleagued their products and the puke green tint lottery ?) or silly products, the nail in the coffin must have been their expensive minimalistic rebranding a la apple, it didn’t fit their wonky product line at all and they totally lost touch with the market.

I’m curious to see how the hipster vibe of niche products from darksucks translates into 4sevens new beginning, i really like Jason’s design flair.

i’m kinda hoping he’ll proceed with both product lines… an exclusive (beyond my budget) range and the former 47s line for mere mortals.

47s was never cheap ($20 for an AA tube!), but i still have my pair of nw quarks and will be keeping them.

first thing i’d do, if i were the new owner, would probably be to make those 18650 quark bodies.

Cool…
I thought he looked familiar. Years ago he had a CPF GTG at his shop in mountain view CA. At the time his operation was just darksucks… IIRC the Prometheus branding had not yet taken off. We were doing drop testing on some of his hand made 18650 designs. It was painful to intentionally destroy such $$$ lights, but fun at the same time.

I love my AAT… awesome little light.

I never bought enuf 4sevens lights. Over the many years I only had the Quark X AA squared. Then David had these shop closing sales and unloaded some lights at some terrific prices and I picked up several Preons, two P1s at $12/ea and one P2 at $15. Absolutely love the Preons.

!

I know Jason will tempt!

Hopefully he does something with the FourSevens name other than refashion the high priced DS lights he’s now known for. Paying ~$300+ for a light with an MCE emitter is just insanity…

I wonder if there will finally be an android app for my Smart Quark? :frowning:
