Got my refund
Enjoy your GT minis guys
what u dont want this nice light ?
Thanks, we willā¦ā¦ :+1: .
This is not the buck driver that we were promised withā¦
I bought it BECAUSE it was supposed to be regulated at 4,5Aā¦
I donāt care for a hotrod, if the final version is a FET+1 driver itās overpriced
Please confirm what type of driver will be in the GT mini BEFORE shipping them.
If itās a FET+1 Iāll simply ask for a refund.
Why ? False advertisement, simply that.
If they choose to send it before stating what type of driver is in, then Iāll make a claim on PayPal asking for a full refund.
Why ? False advertisement.I may sound irritatedā¦ because I am. I already own a D1S, no need for another one in a slightly different design.
Email sent to Neal to cancel my order.
Maybe I will not buy my FW3A after allā¦ If Lumintop doesnāt know the difference between a FET driver and a buck driverā¦
The last user manual still mention a buck driver !
The driver is a FET+1 design. A buck driver was considered but it would limit the output greatly with the XP-L HI LED. I have yet to see a China buck driver for a single cell light that was in regulation for more then a few minutes. Usually they drop out of regulation almost instantly. Rendering the entire point of a buck drive moot except for low modes. The manual was copied from the normal GT and the buck part just slipped through and was not put in there intensionally.

It is a FET+1 driver. Texas Ace answered here: GT mini~reflash the latest firmware~ - #15 by Texas_Ace False advertisement: Lumintop copied the manual from the original GT and overlooked things. I would say it is more a mistake.

Or maybe, just a simple mistake.
Yeah whatever.
I was just replying to mortuus
EDIT : oh, and if it was just a mistake because the user manual was copied from the GTā¦ How do you explain the ā17W 4,5Aā part ? I doubt that the GT is only 17Wā¦
ah okay i understand X3.
Yep, your right; whatever. Lie or mistake we will never know for sure. All we know for sure now isā¦ā¦ it is what it is.
I have no explanation at all for the ā ā17W 4,5Aā partā. Iām just going with the mistake story rather than the liar one. :+1:
I guess
This is a problem with the internal work of Lumintop
This user manual is probably not written by LUMINTOP. (?)
Just like GT, it is written by BLF members.
When Lumintop is getting stronger and stronger
The organization and division of labor within the company should be more detailed.

Yeah I quite know how they workā¦ Iāve done some translation for them, user manuals mostly.
They kept promise me a GT for reviewā¦ Iāve never got it. And of course, I never had other models to review since this. Basically I worked for free.
Yet I trusted them once more for the GT miniā¦
I donāt know why it doesnāt work, Iāve been doing this for Olight For 3 years now, never had a problem.
āWorked for freeā¦ā
Interesting, the definition of work must be eluding me. And here all this time I thought it was mattaus, wight, comychair, warhawk, toykeeper, rmm, del and their like that were doing all the heavy lifting around hereā¦
back to topic please ;)
ah, yes, a lot of people on BLF got us to this point, love it! Much aprc8ted
Hmm I notice this right now. Is that fet+1 will have some turbo timer for example 45 sec to 60 sec ?

Itās NarsilM. It has all that good stuff.
You can have a timer if you want or you can set it to a custom temperature. Thatās what I prefer.
Iām not sure what they will choose as default.
Thereās no mechanical tail switch here, right?
Iām beginning to wonder why all the side switch lights use the electronic switchā¦ essentially this leaves full power running up to the emitter at all times in a āsleepā mode when off. Have I forgotten why a mini Omten isnāt used as a side switch, breaking the positive flow instead of the usual negative interruption? Was just thinking, probably dangerous I knowā¦.

Correct

With a mechanical side switch, like in the Little Dipper series, you canāt use the press and hold for ramping. You would be limited to the tail clicky UIās.
With the e-switch you do get some parasitic drain since the MCU needs to monitor the switch circuit, but usually that drain is very low like on the Q8 and GT. For a light sitting on a shelf most of the time I just turn the tail cap to break the circuit. No worries of drain then.
I do remember hearing of a ramping UI that used a clicky switch. You would half press to start it ramping then another half press to stop it. I recall they said it was pretty clunky to use. It might have been from ToyKeeper or Tom E.
The Firmware is from Toykeeper
Crescendo

āSo Iāve been making a ramping UI for clicky lights.ā
Thanks Jason, that is indeed what I was forgettingā¦. loves me some ramping so if a UI features ramping then I reckon a mech clicky is out.
Is there any switch circuitry that is so efficient it uses less than the power than the self discharging rate of the battery?
