Q8 Dual footprint, quad LED copper DTP LEDboard interest List

This is a first check if enough people are interested in a Q8 Dual footprint, quad LED copper DTP LEDboard.
The Board would be produced by Kerui Electronics for about 8 euro per board (50 pcs minimum order). It is only a interest list to check if we could get filled the minimum order. No commitments for now.

The Board is available at LED4Powers Online Store!
Board without LEDs = 3,97€ (https://led4power.com/product/l4p-blf-q8-40405050-38mm-dtp-direct-thermal-path-copper-mcpcb/)

Board with 4 Luxeon V 400K 70CRI = 19,97€ (led4power)

Board with 4 Luxeon MZ 5700K 90+CRI = 32,97€ (led4power)
The Luxeon MZ are Flux bin : R (840 – 900lm)@2800mA (most MZ LED´s you can find at Mouser, Digikey. . . have a lower Flux bin )

If the board can handle triple XHP70.2, than I’m interested.

Is there already a FET board for a triple XHP70.2 available?

Nice!

I was about to respond in the Q8 topic that Djozz has made contact with a manufacturer, but you got one and your price is lower then what Djozz found!

Triple?

The XHP70 has a bigger footprint right?
Dual pads, XML and XHP70 size seems logical since the Q8 had XPL size pads

Nice initiative! You could ask Sundy for an up-to-date quote (DTP, 2mm copper, 38mm diameter).

XHP70? Yeah, why not? I would go for XHP50, that is bold enough for me :open_mouth:

I refer to djozz contact. If the Q8 boards are the same quality like djozz N119er boards are, i could not think of any problems.
There is a lot to figure out to make it happen but i def would like to get one board. The options with the new leds are to tempting!!!
(Can not wait to see the sst-40 overdrive test and for shure the dedome test!)

I think we would need the exact ledboard layout (for perfect reflector allignetment) and the exact position of the holes . . . to ask for a price.
It would be a big step in the right direction if one of the PCB layout experts could jump in.

I could be interested. We’ll see where this goes.

Yeah, I’m watching too.

What two sets of quad footprints? XM XHP70, XM MTG ?

Something like this but then XML and XHP

The original dual quad footprint board was XP and XM. But since the original Q8 comes with a XP board we could go with something else. XM and XHP70 or something else. I think everyone that is interested in a mod ledboard should speak up and name the combination he wants. And then we can count which design is the most prefered. Adding special pads for a thermistor or aditional pads for color leds . . . could also bé discussed. (but to make this happen some of the PCB gurus have to help)

The original quote from Kerui for a quad SRK board was based on a pretty vague pencil drawing, so an exact design is not needed for that (you could use TA’s dedign for the quote and hand in the exact design later) . It helps the interest check if you have the real price.

Interested.
Luxeon Rebels?
Lots of color choices

I think the logic of making it XM and XHP70 can’t be beat. There’s no reason to use XP, since the original board is already that. That board that Texas_Ace made (that The Miller posted above) would work quite well, if changed to XM and XHP70. It’s already set-up for the flexibility to use any combination of series and/or parallel connections. It already has a place for the thermistor. It’s well designed to fit most SRK lights. Since we have access to the exact dimensions of the Q8 board, maybe it could be tweaked to be a better fit there. It needs to be modded a little to accommodate the two hold-down screws.

One major thing though, the wires must be soldered to the MCPCB in the center for the reflector has the milled out area there, so what TOD said, somebody needs to make a design.

The four holes are for the wires
Center hole for screw so sizes probably need a little tweaking too

I have contacted Sundy and asked for a ~ price and min order quantity for a DTP, 2mm copper, 38mm diameter board with a similar layout to the TA board. Now we will have to wait and discuss which design is the most prefered.

I’d be interested in a XM and XHP70 board. Would you need a new driver or can the existing Q8 driver be modded for the XHP leds?

I would order one of these if they were made. I think an XHP50.2 Q8 would be great. It would make the stock 6000 lumens much easier and with much less heat. It should also peak over 15k lumens.

In fact some quick math says that the xhp50.2 could produce ~10k lumens for the same amount of heat as the stock XP-L’s produce 6k lumens due to the higher efficiency (~130lm/W vs ~80lm/w).

XHP70 would be more work since you would have to drill out the reflectors but they should be able to do ~20k lumens, for a few seconds.

Personally I think I would get some 90+ CRI xhp50.2’s and call it a day. 10k+ lumens of nice, high CRI light.
