For a more on-topic answer though… it depends, and I doubt anyone can really give you a meaningful answer.
I’m just getting one. I would totally get more than one because it’s a really cool item, but I’m broke and I already have three soda can lights which don’t get used much. They’re about 4X the size of what I find practical. I need one Q8 for development purposes, but anything past that would have to be for gifting.
If you’re looking for Q8 mod ideas though, mod-friendly multi-emitter lights are always a good opportunity to try tint mixing. My favorite soda can light is the Blackshadow Terminator I modded for wide-spectrum light with four different emitter tints all across the spectrum. It gives more vivid color rendering than anything else I’ve tried, even more than high-CRI neutral white. The Q8 could do the same thing, only better, because the emitters are closer together and it has a much nicer driver.
