Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Nope, it definitely came straight from China despite the German address on it, in case it´s not deliverable they have a local “warehouse” or shipping address in Germany so the failed packages won´t go back to china or vanish to nirvana…

Looking at amplificus pic, seems like threads are just cutting/scraping thru anodising - note dust in thread hole and black in thread valleys on screws.

!!

!!

So I’m reading that it needs Button Top cells and they should be protected. That’s fine and dandy until you see this link under

……

The suggested cells are not protected and not button top. Can someone recommend some excellent cells that meet the recommended specifications for this flashlight, without modifying the cells?

These are button top

@The grand pooh bah

Solder top = DIY button top

So , judging by the pic you quoted , search for button top cells .

Recommended batteries aren’t protected as you mentioned . Recommended batteries are unprotected button top batteries .

Been said many many times: 30Q Button tops are all around very good for price, performance, runtime -- no modding required, and Banggood has had great deals on them. Heres' one good deal: https://www.banggood.com/4PCS-Samsung-INR18650-30Q-3000mAh-Unprotected-Button-Top. Dunno right now, but M4D M4X had discount codes.

For max safely, sure - protected button tops, but again, I would only recommend high quality protected cells, not no-name protection circuitry.

From what someone on this thread mentioned - why not Samsung 35E's? So I checked into them further and bought qty 8. So far they are testing pretty good in the Q8, better then what I expected -- but the ones I bought were flat tops, so I added solder blobs on the tops of them.

Also in US:

For 30Q BTs: https://liionwholesale.com/products/samsung-inr18650-30q

For protected BT's: https://liionwholesale.com/collections/batteries/products/protected-panasonic-sanyo-ncr18650ga

Sorry, but there were Q8 discount deals goin on from Jon at liionwholesaler, not sure if still active, oops, here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/45502

Is it still possible to get in on this GB? Will send you a PM too after this post.

Here’s what is on my BLF Q8

!!

It just seems queer that the recommended cells are not what is recommended in the flashlight specifications. Button Top with Protection

Production. "18C" is coded for 15K, which is the correct value, same as in the prototype, double checked on the meter, LED's in parallel:

Springs:

Fixed that for you

Good pic of the switch parts, can you make a pic of the leds in focus?

I think you are over thinking recommendations - bout any 18650 will work with a protruding top. What do you want? Max output? Max runtime? Max safety? Take your pick.

This is about the best I can do with smart phone, does that help?

!!

Narsil Cheat Sheet… this is what I have on it, might not be the correct version so someone should confirm…

Woa! They did a good job on the springs it seems?

Dale,

Missing some items, standby, I’ll post what came in box.

Not completely sure but solder points on switch PCB dont’t look good. Could cause the indicator LED problems.

I have some bad news. I cancelled my order. I’m not feeling comfortable with potential problems with either the switch LEDs, or possibe driver problems. I’ll wait and reorder if it’s proven that it’s just a few out of the of 1500 of so that do not exhibit issues. I’ve been screwed before with newly released products. That said, I live on a fixed income (Social Security), so I try to very careful how I spend my money. I hope you all understand.
