I’m sorry but it is way to late for that…. I tore into it long before this PM from you was even sent.
It appears to just be a wire not soldered correctly/bad solder joint that came loose.
If that is the case, as it appears to be; it’s an easy fix.
But should the simple fix not do it & it has anything to do with small electronic components…. I’ll gladly send it to Tom. Cause he obviously know what he is doing inside & out. Smile
Other than this, the light is just as pristine & perfect looking as the others.
Fit & Finish is top notch……. but I ramble. You know all this. Wink
A very impressive light!! You all did real good.
And as far as this being any big deal (to me anyway)…. it is not. Stuff happens like this & it is just the way it goes. Simple as that. Smile
Just an isolated case that just happened.
I have to get to work shortly…. but I’ll keep you posted this evening.

Ok, good to hear you found something simple there - me too, gotta get to work soon smile
If you are not aware, please be careful with the screws - may strip the heads easy with too much pressure. Use a goog fitting screwdriver, work the screws slowly, don’t over tighten.
Been finding some screws damaged/stripped from assembly so may be harder to tighten then loosen.

What a relief it is not fixed.
If you are not able to make clear pictures that is fine, we will do the swap so you receive a Q8 from Tom and send yours to Tom as is.
I will pay the shipping as said.
Of course good sharp pictures will do if ypu are OK with the fix yourself.

XXXXX – I hope you can understand from our point of view. This is the only report we’ve heard of a DOA, so we need evidence since ThorFire agreed to test each individual light to avoid DOA’s. Without a picture at least, we got no evidence.

Yes, the moment it became clear you claimed to have a DOA immediately you were asked not to open and do a swap.
You said it was opened already but not fixed, so you were specifically asked for either clear pictures or in case you would not be able to provide them do the swap at my cost.
You responsed two days later that you fixed it without being able to make clear pictures because of another DOA you have, your camera.
I don’t see how we could have been more accommodating in getting you a proper functional light.
I don’t see how we could have been more clear and specific what was needed in the situation and how important a thorough documentation or investigation of a DOA was.
We have agreed on a working method with Thorfire to avoid this sort of thing.
This is what Djozz was referring to as looking like mainly wanting to cause a stir. You drop what can only be described as a Q8 h-bomb in the thread, then post short and vague about it.
The simple things you were asked for to not do or do, you ignored and you did the opposite, while making sure no further research to your claim can be done.
I consider this PM of me a last thing that needs to be said on the matter, consider it closed now and with the current information I see no reason for more then copy paste this PM to explain it if needed.

Tom – I guess I did not really understand or look at this as a matter of “evidence”.
If it had been made clear or I had understood the importance in the terms of “Evidence” I would have thought more about it.
As it was, upon inspection it just looked like a simple mis-solder to me that had ‘barely’ (minutely) made contact with the edge of the pad. When I saw that, in my mind it was somewhat of a relief as it was no big deal to ““fix”“ it.
The contact with the pad was so minute it could easily have jarred loose in shipping, or anytime;… in my observation anyway.
Maybe my misunderstanding of need as evidence for/against TF is my fault…
No excuses, but I have had a whole lot on my plate the last few weeks & frankly the Q8 has just been a welcome little diversion from those things as of late.
But I do think if it had just flately been stated as this is needed evidence for/against ThorFire… maybe it would have registered differently with me… who knows at this point.

Now that you posted publicly and for me proved you are indeed a troll I must update the previous PM for I wrote it based on the then current information so before your very nasty sneaky way of trying to say we would have asked for “evidence against Thorfire” which has not been the case or intent.
