Yes, it’s because the lights in question don’t have the appropriate identifying resistors to activate a USB-C charger.

This is the issue per the reddit thread I linked back at the end of August: From what I’ve read the solution is to “Connect two pulldown resistors (Rd) with nominal value 5.1kOhm to CC1 and CC2” inside the LT1 (power sink). Hopefully this can be done for a future production run. Please focus your replies on the information gathering I’m requesting. In the LT1 thread, it was mentioned that more and more lights are being made with USB-C charge ports, but that many of them only work with USB-A to USB-C cables.
