Question- mcpcb sizes / compatibility

Can a (bare, convoy) osram 4040 mcpcb be used for a XM-L, XHP50 or sst40 led reflow?

I just reflowed a sst40 onto a XM-L mcpcb, but am trying to avoid ordering tons of different bare mcpcbs if I can use my existing CULPM1 bare mcpcbs for reflowing more sst40 and xhp50.

Thanks in advance!

I just ordered them all. I’ll figure it out and report back for anyone else who may be interested in reflowing different foot print emitters (xpl, xml, xhp50, osram, sst20, sst40, etc).

Back when the 4040s were new, a few people successfully reflowed them in 3535 (“xp”) MCPCBs. Personally, I’d recommend having MCPCBs of the correct footprint. It’s tricky to get right to begin with, and probably compromises thermal performance even if you get it to work.

Thank you. That’s what I ended up deciding, for the price it wasn’t that big of a investment. Plus I still need to mid the mcpcbs when I get them… I’m trying to reflow leds into a light with a 14 mm mcpcb. I couldn’t find any 14’s so I got 16mm from Simon and will just use and compass to Mark the 14mm diameter and my belt sander to slowely take the material away. Should work out, I’ve done similar thing before,.
