From left to right: Thrunite T10T, Unknown (cheap) 14500 flashlight, Airayland T5, Astrolux A01, Airayland T7.
Sorry for the contaminated cheap flashlight glass/lens.
The weights are including battery and swivel-clip (snap-hook for three smaller flashlights).
Summary:
- T10T (original 3-mode-driver, modded with Nichia 219B 5700K), Airayland T5 (original 3-mode-driver, stock XP-G2) are loaded with AA, but 14500 can be used (not recommend as the heat is too high for Ti body).
- Unknown Pink (modded with Nichia 219B 4000K) flashlight has no driver, is using low end 14500.
- Astrolux A01 (original 3-mode-driver and stock Nichia 219B 4000K) is loaded with 10440.
- Airayland T7 (original 3-mode-driver, stock XP-G2) is loaded with AAA.
- Both Airayland are difficult to be modded, as the LED is soldered together with the boost driver.
- Both T10T and Airayland T5 last for > 1 hour at highest mode (no obvious step down) using AA battery (brand GP gold).
- Airayland T5 last for 20-25 minutes using AAA battery (no obvious step down).
- Astrolux A01 lasts for about 15 minutes using 10440 (non-continuous, accumulated time), the flashlight gets very hot after 3 minutes at high mode.
- T10T body surface is very smooth and easily got scratches when putting with keys in the pocket.
- Airayland T5 & T7 manage to squeeze LED and driver together, also with shallow reflector and thin end cap (T7 have no end cap and switch), thus minimise their length.
- Direct driver “no-name” flashlight is the brightest (but not lasting), followed by Astrolux A01, Airayland T5, Airayland T7 and lastly T10T. Original T10T is using XP-L V6 and should be as bright as Airayland T5.
Ref: Ceiling bounce values in lux: “No-name” - 23 ; Astrolux A01 - 20 ; Airayland T5 - 11.0; Airayland T7 - 7.0; Thrunite T10T - 6.6.
For EDC, I was using Astrolux A01 previously. Now I prefer Airayland T5 (AA) due to the size and weight, which is comparatively the best of its class, especially with its > 1 hour AA battery life. It would be better if there is an option for Nichia 219B-5700K or if the LED can be modded easier. Meanwhile Airayland T7 is very suitable to be used as key-chain for any emergency purpose (my wife is using).
