Bought a Gyrfalcon S8000 recently (baby’s first Lion cell charger) to charge my first set of 18650’s. Ran into an issue last night during a charge > discharge > charge cycle where I came back to the charger on its final charge and all of the slots were flashing red showing “ERROR-06” on all of the slots.
Reached out at 11pm EST and got a response back in 20 minutes from them explaining what all the error codes meant that weren’t documented and going so far as to inform me that they were going to fix that behavior to be more descriptive on a yet to be released firmware update.
ERROR(1) meaning: Lithium ion battery or LiFePO4 battery pre charging timeout
ERROR(2) meaning: Lithium ion battery or LiFePO4 battery charging timeout
ERROR(3) meaning: Ni-Mh battery charging timeout
ERROR(4) meaning: Ni-Mh battery pre charging timeout
ERROR(5) meaning: Discharging timeout
ERROR(6) meaning: Exceeded maximum capacity.
MAX CAPACITY has a default value of 3500mAh. If the battery capacity is 2550mAh, it is recommended to adjust this value to 2550 * 1.15. If you do not need this protection feature, you can set the value to 9999.
By the way:
Firmware 3.0.33 has been sent to the reviewer for testing and will be released soon.
In the new version, the error code is displayed as follows
Error 1-5, display as “Err:Timeout”
Error 6, display as “Err:MaxCap”
The main addition is the script configuration feature, which allows for quick program setup without any button presses, abd the script control function enables sending any test program via the PC.
At this point, I’m impressed. 20 minute round trip and I got the ear of someone who can speak to the firmware. I rip off another email of what I believe to be a bug in the GUI and a feature request. The feature request is to allow menu wrap around similar to how when your selecting a program you can hit up when sitting on program slot 1 and it will wrap backwards to slot 31. I was finding it a bit clunky to see the measured IR on a cell (Click a slot to get into slot view, scroll and wait till you get to the bottom). Received a reply back about 8 hours later that the bug is actually a safety feature and that my suggestion is being put in for consideration on a future firmware.
We have accepted your request and implemented the following logic:
In CSV (SOV) , pressing button 6 or button 7 will cycle through the displayed content. This means that when you first enter the CSV (SOV), instead of having to long-press or repeatedly press button 7 to scroll to the end to see the Battery IR, you can now simply press button 6 once to display Battery IR.
As for the bug, it turns out its a safety feature but if anyone wants the particulars let me know. All in all, I’m very impressed with the interaction with their support.
