I’ve gotten by for years having some backup electrical storage for when all the lights go out and the shaking stops — 12v auto and deep cycle batteries, with regular charging and solar charging with a charge limiter. But the older I get ….
So I see the ham radio folks are using LiFePO4 battery boxes nowadays, with dedicated chargers — more expensive to start but over the longer term a better deal.
And I’m not ready to buy a Tesla Powerwall yet …
Anyone have advice/recommendations about LiFePO4 battery boxes, 12v type, and solar panel chargers
Basically for us this kind of battery gets used in the rare earthquake or other longer term power failure to recharge flashlight batteries, provide some limited LED lighting, and keep whatever communications (cellphone if the cell system is working, ham radio for sure, DSL modem because the phone system almost always comes back at least for digital service even when the voice side is overloaded or not connecting).
