looking through the forum i have seen supfire m6 comes up the most but whats out there atm. budget under 80$
i have skyray king gold one for 2 years its threads has now worn off i cannot screw it together lol. it get used everyday for a budget light i thought it was reliable only disappointment was the thread worn off otherwise it still works good.
this is going to be present for my father and father in law. looking for maximum flood with no mods needed and reliability. easy to use as they are new lives in dark country side and uses it everyday.
I have one of those… definitely it’s not 4000 lumens… not even 2000 lumens more like somewhere around 1500 lumens.
My original SRK put out more lumens thhan that… even with XM-L T6 LEDs
sure…but I can tell you that SRK is WAY underdriven…and since mine is glued shut I can’t even open it up to either resistor mod the driver for a boost in power or even check if there is a heatsink or just a large aluminum multiple star in it
My 3*XML one (before I broke it) was ALOT brighter than dividing the anemic current between 6 emitters vs 3
I have that same 6 x XM-L SRK, its a good flooder, but not driven very hard. its below 2000 Lumens. my SR-Kung M4 4 x XM-L2 bought from Brotherhuang1983 on Ebay is very noticeably more powerful.
Your best bet would be a good Supfire M6 as mentioned above, or a custom built MT-G2/ZY-T08 flooder or even a Solarstorm Warrior which is a great light with a good balance of flood and throw.
I have the genuine Terminator and it is definitely brighter than my 3 LED SRK or my 3 LED Securitying. Both the SRK and the Securitying appear visually to be absolutely identically machined except for the shinier bezel finish on the gold anodized Securitying. The bezel finish on the black SRK is frosted. Both also came with the new 5 mode user interface, three brightness modes plus SOS and strobe.
For the OP’s use I would have chosen the minimum modded M6 from Mountain Electronics for $50 + shipping. Improved UI, battery protection and after Richard has had it open and made sure that it is properly constructed I would expect improved reliability too. I have one of both the minimally modded M6 and the hot rod version on order from Richard.
I wondered about whether things were greased too as my Securitying SRK clone had NO grease on the threads as received. Sounded terrible the first time I unscrewed the battery holder from the head.
IMO still hard to beat the Mountain Electronics M6 stock light at $40 or the Option 1 for $13.50 additional. The option 1 UI improvement is IMO worth the price increase. The customized versions with different LEDs for under $100 are also very nice.
