Repairing Nitecore P25 - Successful (pics inside)

Got one P25 today that I would like to fix. It was used for hunting but it seems driver failed.

Diagnostics:

- charging is working no problem,
- battery voltage readout also works as intended,
- mode memory works,

but

- only one mode gives visible light and it is very dim (maybe 2-5 lumens)
- I think mode switching is working also but modes are to dim to notice anything
except that one above mentioned output. After this one visible mode I can half-click
5 times (nothing visible happens) and then I am back to visible mode (fifth click is
visible light).

I remove the bezel, glass, reflector, gain access to the LED (working ok with external
power) but that doesn't help much and I need to get the driver out :(

Any creative advices how to do that?

Thanks

I guess no one before had a problem with P25 and had to repair it so, in the name of science I will do it

What was the problem:
driver has a coil inside that was not secured (glued) to anything, using it on gun this coil was subjected to a lot of recoil and one wire broke at soldering point

Unfortunately
driver was quite heavily glued so there was no way to pry it out safely and possibility of damages was high.

After extraction, not a pretty sight:

Time to start fixing it:

That’s it, driver now works again, just stuffed it with a lot of fujik silicone to prevent future disintegration of parts and its ready to go back in service

Hope this can help someone!

Nice job, someone’s gotta be first.

Thanks, let’s hope it’s going to last.
