Replacement for O light M30 Triton

Hi to all.

For the last 5 years, I’ve operated and carried an Olight M30 Triton. The light as held up great considering all of the use and abuse I’ve put it through. I like the length, width, bezel size and weight. The light output on high is 700 lumens.

Im wondering if a brighter flashlight (1000 lumens or brighter) is available with the same overall size, perhaps with a better throw. The M30 has a MC-E LED (floody), and its “useful” output on high starts to really tank around 75-100 feet.

The reason I’d like to stick to the same general size is because I keep it in a belt holster, and I can’t really afford any more space for a bigger light holster atm. It is adjustable, so I do have a little room for play on the size.

Dimensions (no batteries installed):Height: 212mm with battery extender
Width: 33.0mm (tailcap), 25.1mm (body tube), 42.9mm (bezel)
Weight: 164.0g (no extender), 180.8g (with battery extender).

I’d prefer a light that uses 18650 batteries. Does anybody have any recommendations? Once again, I’d like the maximum brightness for roughly the same size as my current light.

Thanks

have you thought about upgrading the internals? (new driver+led)

Get the Olight M2X-UT Javelot, the Triton’s baby brother. Add an extension tube and you’ll have the exact same size and shape, with a lot more output and throw.

Edit: Sorry, I was thinking M3 Triton…the design is somewhat different but overall size is about the same.

A lot of the lights in these configurations tend to have bigger heads such as the Maxtoch 2X. Do you definitely need 2*18650 in series? The newer LEDs are much more efficient if you’re worried about runtime.

If you’re willing to switch up the form factor a little, there are many different options that will be brighter and throw further. For example, I think even the Olight R40 would be brighter and throw further even though it is much smaller. If you want some serious throw, you can step up to the Olight M2X Javelot or Olight SR52. If you’re willing to go for a bigger light like the SR52 though, then I would suggest you consider the Acebeam K40M as it is super bright (3000 lumens) and will easily throw 300 ft (rated at 1500+).

Hi, Jeffin.

Go with the Olight M2X-UT with extension tube or the M3X Triton. Either should far, far surpass your expectations.

Thanks for the welcome and answers. I am liking the fact that these lights come with a holster. Originally I wanted the light to fit my current holster. But if the lights mentioned above come with their own, I may just switch.

So, I’m leaning towards the Acebeam, because 3000 lumens is giving me a hearty nerd boner. Do any of you own the Acebeam k40? I’m wondering about the runtime on high. I saw their website said .9 hrs, but is that accurate? Also, how is the quality of the holster and what is it made out of?

Thanks guys

Olight SR51 outshines and outthrows M30, still has modern emitter, handy 2x18650 setup and costs a little bit over $50 which is a bargain.
