Replacing Samsung 30B's with 30Q's or 30A's

Hi all,

I’ve got a curtain rail battery with some dead Samsung ICR18650 30B’s in it. My question is, as I’m having real difficulty sourcing 30B’s, could I replace all 7 cells with 30A’s or 30Q’s?

The nominal voltage of the pack is 26.5V, and the supplied Somfy charger is 30VDC 1.8A

Yes, you could replace with those or any other cell you want really. Choice comes down to the need for current and/or capacity desires. The 1.8a charge rate is moderate (around the “standard” charge rate listed in most of Samsung’s data sheets) but for many cells a lower charge rate will give better long term life and less degradation. If the 30Q’s capacity is ok with you then that cell will handle the heat better. Sony and Molicel also have excellent cells to consider.
