Hi all!
For a while I was able to buy replica Watches from vendors on iOffer with PayPal. These vendors no longer accept PayPal. The iOffer website does not accept virtual credit cards (such as Citibank Mastercard).
Anyone know a good place to buy replicas? (My favorite are the “James Bond” Omegas!)
I Have bought a few off Joshua over the years, he has never let me down.
$300+ for those movements and build quality is way too much.
Please buy yourself a good Seiko or Orient - with better movements and overall build quality.
Build quality is actually pretty sweet, I have some nice genuine watches as well and can honestly say that the build quality of the best available clones is very close. These are not the clones you see in the Beijing Market (those are crap). Yes the movements are not the same as the gens but they generally hold up pretty well if you buy the better ones and stay away from the cronos. If you want the best automatic for $300 get a seiko, but if you want to try wearing a titanium planet ocean that will fool anyone but an AD, but dont have 8 grand laying around collecting dust then this baby will scratch your itch and it will cost a lot less than the taxes or your first cleaning of the Gen.
I just don’t get people who buy these high end fakes. The cheap ones are ‘fun’ items for kids and for giggles but once you start spending the amount of money that would legitimately get you something like the very acceptable Seiko 5 sport (for instance), then what is the point? Do you really want to impress people so much that you are willing to make a charlatan and a fraud out of yourself? This is not directed at the OP or other posters but with the trade for these things in general. I always wanted a Rolex Submariner with a Pepsi Bezel, but would hands down rather pay $150.00 for the Seiko version that is a legitimate homage rather than for a fake of the same price.
For me its not about impressing people, its that I am hopelessly addicted to beautiful shiny gadgets. Its the same reason I ordered 3 BLF titanium’s and tricked them out with triple xpl’s and all the tritium i could possibly pack in. Did i need another flashlight…nope, but needs got nothing to do with it when you have a gadget addiction. With me its the same with knives, fly fishing gear, guns etc… So when I see Daniel Craig wearing a titanium PO in temple of solace, and then the next time I am passing though the duty free and see how good this thing looks in real life, I know I’m going to have to feed the addiction so I essentially have 3 choices: 1) buy the original for 8 grand (even though I could afford this option I personally think its biggest ripoff of the 3 options), 2) find a cheap but good quality alternative (i have lots of cool watches but there are none available like this) 3) buy a very accurate clone, wear it around and put it on the shelf after a year or so when i get tired of it and find something i want more.
Option 1 - Most expensive by far, even if i only do it once
Option 2 - Least expensive and best value by far. The most economical way to do this is to only have 1 good watch, but who on this forum only has one flashlight ?
Option 3 - For me probably about the same as if i did Option 2 but i have more fun and it prevents me from engaging in the very very expensive hobby of collecting Gens. Think of it like methadone for a heroin addict
How to treat fake watches
Being a watch lover myself, all I have to say is that fake watches SU#K! AVOID THEM Pls!
for the watches that is not automatic, where do you take them to get a battery change?
authorized dealers? or just anybody?
Reading a few comments and seeing how some of those watches have accuracy issues in terms of time keeping, I would avoid it. I would only buy watches that can keep the time accurately.
Take a look at the “Parnis”-brand.
Those aren’t Fakes - they are just same-looking but without the fake brand-name.
I have a “Panerai” - Parnis myself and that thing is beautiful and well made.
My watch band is broken and cost too much to repair. A fake band is sounding good right now.
I was listening to a fake band just last night…………
You will want to google Parnis, there are fake Parnis too!
I think some people need to understand that replica watches are not fakes. Fake watches are $15, replica watches are $300+ for a reason. First off I have several replica watches, very high end, one has the exact same movement that comes in the original. All parts are interchangeable with original parts. It is a very beautiful watch. I say this as I own 3 Omegas, Speedmaster moon watch, Seamaster and a solid gold Seville, all gens. I also own many Seiko’s including a tuna 015. I love all my watches including the reps.
Some time ago my dad asked the difference between a fake and a replica. The best way I could explain was a fake watch is like that Ferrari you see on a vw chassis with a body made of fibre glass and a bad paint job. Everything is wrong. A replica is exactly that it should be, a replica. Think of an Eagle E type. Would you call it a fake?
Marc
These by the way are replicas too. Lower grade but without the name, so technically people don’t think the same way, but they are. Panerai’s crown lock is theirs and theirs only. If you replicate it, its a replica. Same as. No difference.
I think you need to understand that you are completely 100% wrong. What you say only works if they don’t use the brand name. Even then the design will be copyrighted but at least it would then not be considered a fake. A perfect replica of a Rolex that is precise down to the last atom is still a fake if it has not come out of the Rolex workshop.
It’s a normal screw-on crown, so not faked.
It’s a thin line between fake and replica, but I think that it’s OK to wear a watch without a brand but it’s not OK to wear a fake watch.
I couldn’t wear a “real” fake watch - I don’t need and I don’t want that.
I have a IWC Ingenieur (IW3234), so no need for me to wear a fake - but I also like the Panerais - but not so much that I will spoend thousands of euros for one - so Panerai doesn’t loose money because I would never buy one.
I am the same. I could bend towards buying a handmade watch that is the same as a well known brand of watch provided it did not carry the name or a mockery of the name i.e no Rolexx or some such branding. Those to me are ‘honest’ replicas.
If someone builds something, and puts the name of another company on it, a company that did not build it, it is fake. Counterfeit. Not cool. Illegal. Simple.
