Some of you guys probably read my review on the 12x that was 7,000 lumens and this light is very similar so I’m not going to get into it too much.
I bought a couple of these a while back when they first had them. They took their sweet time getting them to me and so far only one has shown up. They did a partial shipment with tracking on only the one. So I’m still waiting on the second one. I’m wondering if it will be the same or not.
This light is a 15x XML T6. It uses 4 26650’s. It makes the light very long but I like the extra battery.
They have it listed at 17,000 lumens on high. LOL It’s about 3,000 stock.
It’s the same grey finish and it’s not bad really the reflector is really nice. The big star that the emitters on isn’t too bad either. Fits in perfectly and everything was centered nicely. It had some thermal paste under it, but it’s the cheap stuff and they didn’t have it fully coated like usual. Even with only 3,000 it should have had a full coating.
Everything is pretty sturdy. The tailcap is nice.
Modded it’s a true beast. It’s the brightest light I have every modded. Insanely bright. The sense resistor on this thing is just a small one but it’s crazy high numbers. I can’t remember exactly what it was but it was something like 2344, Just unreal. Why they put that much resistance on it is beyond me.
Of course I bridged the resistor right away and put down a really good coat of thermal grease, the best stuff I have found so far. it’s called omegathermal 201 from omega engineering. Good stuff if you can find it.
At that point it was now at just over 8,000 lumens.
Then I shortened up the wires, they didn’t need to be so long and that also adds resistance. The centering rings are also light hogs, no reason to have such huge centering rings on this light. The springs top and bottom got a mod done next.
I also de-domed the three emitters in the center. They are the largest reflectors. This added some throw and took the whiteness down a notch so it’s around neutral/cool.
With four Sony Green high amp 26650’s I hit 9,000 lumens. Medium is over 5,000 lumens and that is just crazy bright. Honestly it’s not a huge jump to the 9,000 lumens just by looking. If I hadn’t gauged it I would have thought it was less. Probably because once you hit that 9,000 lumens the pupils in your eyes are tiny little dots. LOL
Well anyway, it’s a cool light but really only for modding. Well that or if you want an efficient light that can run on high for a very long time, with the 15 emitters and four batteries it’s not bad for that kind of thing. The beam is really nice too, It’s just a huge wall of light with zero rings. Super nice beam, that’s a big plus.
