Are there any National brick and mortar retail stores that sell these in the us?
In my area with a chain called Batteries Plus and I know they sell 18650’s and probably some 21700’s. You can also try Smoke/Tobacco/Vape stores, vape smokers are big consumer of 18650/21700 batteries.
Thanks. I never thought about batteries plus. We have them locally (houston) as well.
I’d guess due to the OEM status of our batteries, that most retailer “brick and mortar” sellers wouldn’t think of carrying a battery outside of a pack (*with a BMS)… and other brand’s name to boot.
And if you go to head out to Batteries Plus or a vape shop, get ready to pay triple+ what you can buy them for from better online seller (in the US anyway).
I figured the price would be exponentially more, but am trying to weigh in shipping time vs. right now.
You can get something like a Samsung 40T from lithium ion wholesale for around $6 (they discount if buying 2 or more), but shipping is expensive at around $9, but it’s fairly quick, around 7 days. A vape store selling something like a rewrapped 30T or 40T from a 3rd party company would charge you $20 or so for that same cell. As was said. OEMs don’t sell loose batteries to consumers, only to businesses/industry who turn them into battery packs with the obligatory BMS. The way the industry is going, they may not be able to sell loose lithium batteries anymore…time will tell though.
Everybody says that ‘Nuon’ brand batteries from Batteries Plus are terrible, they are protected batteries with something like 2A maximum current, they will trip on most modern flashlights.
I had a terrible customer service failure with BP a few years back on a lifetime warranty that disappeared from their computers. They are also very overpriced, but that’s the price we pay for convenience. You cant get enthusiast grade batteries from there, just ones that go in your wireless phone, laptop, etc.
Thanks to all for the info. I just ordered some from battery junction for $5.99 and $5 5 day ground shipping.
Well done
