[Review] 4800lm OLIGHT Seeker Ultra with OAL & triple charging options, the best OLIGHT yet, or a step down from the Seeker 4 Pro?
Thanks for the review.
How is it for you — downgrade or upgrade?
More maH, Type-C charging, disappointing but more sensible max power and superior aluminium. Slight upgrade but probably overpriced.
I considered getting one in the sale but man this seems like a dud. I’m not sure what the emitters are but they aren’t high CRI, aren’t better CCT and don’t actually provide increased performance over the Seeker 4 Pro. They advertise 200 extra lumens at Turbo but in reality fall short of the promise and short of the S4 Pro. In addition, the advertised lumens after stepdown and in lower modes are worse.
The OAL is a legit improvement for those who care. The add’l USB-C port is as well. The improved battery is basically meaningless as almost all of the add’l capacity is unavailable unless you are on the lowest modes (since Olight doesn’t let you access high modes at low voltages). So if you want an extra hour at 300 lumens (12.5 vs 11), you get that here.
And then there is the problem that the S4 Pro to begin with just isn’t a very competitive light in the floody quad space. The Acebeam E75 is cheaper and higher output with the TN emitter and similar output but with high CRI and better tint with the 519A emitters.
I am not saying this as an Olight hater. I recently got my first Olights (Warrior Ultra, Baton Ultra, ArkPro) and find them compelling offerings with some unique benefits/value. But I can’t make the Seeker pencil out at all. Unless you just have to have the silicone handgrip I guess.
Feels like a cash in on people who are trying to collect all the olive green OAL products tbh, not significantly better in any way than the S4Pro. Even the S4Pro has USB-C on the included holster.
Was a perfect opportunity for them to try out some high quality, high CRI emitters and pivot to that, especially considering the price. Alas, number must go up it seems.
