I suppose the GB works so that you:
1) Register to FF (and log in)
2) Join the GB of R5 or R4
3) See how many else will join (this defines the price)
4) Pay the correct price
5) Receive the light
6) Enjoy
I just meant that it's perfect to my eyes, but then again: I'm not a tint snob (or at least I don't admit to be )
Here's a comparison between Klarus MiX6, DQG III CW & 4sevens Preon P0 (WB: Daylight):
As you can see, there's not much difference between them, but:
- Klarus is a bit more blueish / purpleish and has quite lot smaller hotspot
- There might be a hint of green in DQG in the photo, but I can't see it by eye
- Preon P0 is all flood and doesn't have a real hotspot (which is actually the reason why I didn't like the P0)
- DQG's spill is about as bright as Preon's uniform flood
None of your lights is NW.. The UI of Klarus is "too complicated" (and has disco modes), it has battery rattle, doesn't tailstand, is too large, and the beam is too tight. And DQG is always DQG!
So, just buy the NW (R4) version of DQG, and be happy. :)
I bought some op diffusion film from a guy at the other forum and put it on my DQG (which already had a nice beam) and turned it into a wonderful floody beam. Did the same with my LDO1......pure flood with no apparent loss of light. too much throw close in (ten feet) front of me messes up my eye"s. I don"t know where this guy got this Stuff but it is great and is"hot proof"! I wanted to give the guy a shout out (forgot his handle) but was not sure where to put it and was fearful I would get banned if I put it in the wrong place (sad). I am just going to drop him a note since his name and address were on the envelope he sent me. I will ask him where he got it. I guess you had to buy like $30 worth and he was selling it at cost to help out his fellow members. There are some nice folks over there.
I registered, joined the group buy for the R4, paid for it ($32), and now wait. I'm not sure about seeing how many others join, as I'm hoping that that's it. Not really a group buy like this, but there again, they haven't confirmed anything yet, so it might be that I must wait for the right number of people to join in.
I suppose if not enough people join the deal may be off, but they'd then have to credit me, and I doubt they want to do that.
A group buy via BFL sounds much simpler (though I've no experience of those either).
Yeah, me too. This spin off site is so new that I'm doubtful they know themselves how it will pan out. They got the most important point right - get the money off the customer sharpish, and worry about how things work later.
i think i could get the NW for its magnet and the warm tint and the interesting lens (plastic, not glass?). (My Xeno E03 XML is NW, and i would prefer a light without any tint .. like the pure white of the LD01 XP-G R4). Klarus is small (to me) and floody (=dim) and i have already found my perfect 1xAAA light in the LD01 -- finally i found it!! but you're right, DQG is always DQG. limited edition. legendary. and guiness record of the world's smallest 1xAAA power LED light. a special light. and since the advent of Foursevens Preon P0 also become popular (popularized heha) thru shilling.
what i really dont like about the Klarus is the rear spring and that it's not a rugged light.
and let me update THIS post as reference for our records. group buy closes 2012-04-22 23:00 Beijing Time Zone or when old gb units (30 CW, 30 NW offered) are sold.
2012-04-22 15:00 --- 7 vs 30 (gb closed for the NW!)
2012-04-22 21:40 --- 7 vs 30 (gb closed for the NW and the CW. game over!)
Final result: 7 units of CW and 30 units of NW were sold. number of participants less than 37 because several participants had ordered multiple copies.
I cannot add it through the group buy page says out of stock. But I can add it through the normal page. So it seems it is out of stock for the group buy but not for the normal price.
